Insurance on trailer stored at ETI
My 21' will be ready in December. I will probably have ESI store the trailer until Spring. For those that have stored there trailers at ETI, did you insure your trailer during that time? For those in the US, were there any issues or obstacles securing the insurance?

Do you mean ETI?
No matter, where ever I'd store, I'd insure.

I can't find it now but I believe that ETI has stated that they will store your trailer onsite until pickup and that the warranties don't go into effect until you take possession. I would take that to mean that it isn't even your trailer until you pick it up so no need for insurance until then. But I could be wrong.

KarenH, you're probably correct. But...
storage insurance is not very inexpensive...well worth the piece of mind.

You are correct, I meant ETI. I understand that the warranty goes into effect when I pick up the trailer, but in the case of some unknown event (vandalism, fire, etc.), I don't think that ETI would be responsible. I visit ETI in a couple of weeks and will discuss with them, just wondering what others have done.

I would contact Tammy as I believe as of the completion date the trailer is your responsibility. Although they will store it and your warranty will not start until you pick it up.

If you have a loan, they will require proof of insurance. We insured ours from completion on Jan 2 until pickup on May 2.

I insured our 21 as soon as I paid for it... 3 months before I picked it up. No problems with the insurance company.
As I recall, Tammy asked that I get the coverage...same as I would if I was storing it locally.

Thanks for the input. No loan, but definitely want to protect my investment. I can understand ETI wanting the owner to secure insurance to protect their exposure. ETI is providing a service by storing the trailer and not starting the warranty period until the trailer is picked up / delivered.

That would depend. We just wrote a cheque on the line of credit ( which is secured by the house ). Bank doesn't care what you use the money for.

We have our trailer stored. The place storing it has no insurance for it and no liability that I know of if something happens to it. We have to have our own insurance. When you pay for it, you own it so, yes, you would want to cover it.

I still think that if something catastrophic happened at ETI, the insurance companies would have a heyday with unlicensed and unregistered trailers with no titles. Just my opinion.

I would buy insurance if ETI was storing my trailer past the scheduled P/U date. However, I picked up Ten Forward on THE date.
I wouldn't want to known as THE PERSON that caused insurance headaches at ETI because of vandalism, etc. for a trailer that was "stored." Frankly, I respect Reace & Tammy to much to put them in that position. YMMV
