Hi, Ed -

First - I appreciate your willingness to put personal financial details here on the forum. Like you, I am very reserved about putting specifics on any public site. As you note, though, it may help others understand how it all works.

Second - I think you can "remove" those details, now, since you and Jim have clarified things for one another. And, if you can't do so, I'm sure a member of the Forum Team could do so.
Your info could be modified to be more "generic", too - so it's not specifically about your purchase, but just about the process, in general.

Finally - fwiw - I got so confused by all of the this's and that's of the USD-CND thing, I just sent two USD bank checks to Chilliwack, in advance of my going to pick up my new rig. I was ok with letting the bank get a bit more $$.

I guess I'm a "penny wise, pound foolish" type - bought a new travel trailer with money from my retirement account. Before I retire, mind you.

Once I'd made that decision, and committed to the (not few!) customizations I'd ordered, a few hundred dollars either way seemed of small consequence. Bad me, I guess --

Oh, and - NO regrets! lol

I can remove anything Ed thinks is too personal but I do not see anything that is exposing his financial information other than specific amounts paid. So anything that needs changing I'll change if so desired.

Ed,

It is very generous of you to give this information, but even when I had irrefutable information on how much I saved with Transferwise, I frankly gave up with all the push back from doubters, understandable, BUT.... . In my situation, I didn't have to divulge the details as I worked my way through Transferwise, then when I saw the fees, I backed out and walked a couple blocks to our credit union. When I worked through with what I thought was a great savings (a $25 fee from the credit union), I was startled to see that they were going to take hundreds of dollars (I think around $700 though I would have to pull the records). The reason I knew was I knew exactly what US dollars were going to be pulled from my bank account at the credit union and I knew exactly what dollars Transferwise was going to pull from my bank. ON THE SAME DAY. So, I cancelled the credit union transaction, walked back to my house, put the Transferwise through. Printed out their instructions to the credit union, took it back to the credit union and saved a lot of money. I even blubbered about how I was a Finance professional in my annoyance on the disbelief. HAHAHA. If you can find my prior postings you can see.

I don't know about now, but there was a time when ETI had to receive personal checks six weeks in advance of delivery or pickup of the trailer. It had to do with the funds fully clearing the bank(s).

Pricing for 2020
The base pricing we display on the website and in brochures moving forward will be in US funds. Canadian prices will be displayed as well, and for Canadian customers your build sheets will still be in Canadian funds. The reason why we are switching is to improve our pricing competitiveness in the US market. More than 70% of our business is US based. Customers can pay in either USD or CAD.

I guess in about 2 weeks there'll be no more hassle at either side of the border.
