We just sent our first check in for 23.5k USD and the rate was around 1.09.

I agree neal's math does not look correct.

We made our final payment on 1/2/14 and the exchange rate was 1.066.

I think Neal just double typed a digit. According to Canadian Dollars (CAD) to US Dollars (USD) Rates for 1/17/2014 - Exchange Rates, the exchange rate was 0.9122 which would convert $19k to around $20,672.

Sorry, my bad. I meant to type $20,620.

Hello,

If I pay Escape using a check drawn on a U.S. Bank, should the amount written on the check be U.S. Or Canadian dollars?

Thanks!

The exchange rate is always moving, but I think ETI changes enough money between their US and Canadian banks that they get a very good rate... Much better than my credit union was able (or willing?) to offer.

I'd make it easy on my US bank and send in the check in U.S. funds and leave the dollar exchange to the ones who do it all the time - ETI.
Get it close and you can settle the small balance with a credit card or in my case, the rate was better than I expected so I added some small items from the accessories catalog to the invoice.

U.S. Their bank does the conversion when it is deposited. ETI will then send you an updated build sheet showing the amount credited in Canadian dollars.

The U.S. dollar has been at $1.40 Canadian (and well above, continuously for 5 years), but not since 2003. Glad to hear it was just a typo.

Historical exchange rates... because my memory is not good enough for this level of detail!

That is a very nice rate, .90589, which is within 1/100th of todays XE Currency published rates. I assume that you mailed a check to Escape Industries payable in USD and they deposited it into their Canadian bank and your result was the 28,145 CD?
