Price increase for trailers delivered on or after December

If you have a trailer on order from ETI with delivery on or after December, you just received an email informing you that ETI has increased the price because tariffs have increased their cost of the materials. While I like ETI and their trailers as much as anybody, what is the point of having a published price list then if prices can be changed at any time, including even after a firm order has been placed?

I realize the Build Order contains the statement "Price are subject to change without notice". However, people who commit to purchase a new trailer need to understand they are bearing the full risk of rising prices or tariffs during the build period. To my way of thinking, the compnay should honor the published price list for trailers with a firm order and deposit in place awaiting completion but change the prices for new trailers ordered after a certain cut-off date.

I agree with your sentiment that it is somewhat annoying to be hit with a price increase after the contract has been signed and a substantial deposit paid. As you note, though, it does allow in the build sheet agreement for price changes without notice. I would guess that this has rarely happened in the past, but with the trade and tariff issues being dealt with right now this is somewhat of an unusual situation and I'm sure it puts ETI in a difficult position whatever they do.

It's worth noting that there are good changes that take place on an ongoing basis as well - not necessarily cost changes, but improvements and feature upgrades which are implemented as they occur and can result in you getting a better trailer than what was being produced the day you first placed your order.

With a December build date we will be affected by this, but it's hard to get too upset - ETI seems to have demonstrated continually that they will do everything in their power to build, deliver and service a trailer that is as good as they can make it, and there are numerous examples of them going the extra mile to do just that. I would much rather that they charge a price that enables them to continue doing this, rather than absorbing extra costs and having to cut corners someplace else.

Since ETI had no hand in placing the tariff they are as much a victim as you are .
I understand your frustration but to me it should be directed at the entity or person who is responsible for applying the tariff
Hopefully the price increase will not put an Escape beyond your financial reach

Why not copy and paste the email so we can all see what it says.
You say price increase on trailers for delivery. What does it say about trailers that are picked up?
I think we need to read it. Nothing I could find on ETI website.

$250 CAD seems quite modest to me and ETI is upfront about it.
You're already paying more for lots of other products because of recent tariffs ( more properly called taxes ). It's just hidden in the price.

You can say the same about the tariffs themselves.

Just made it! We paid off our 5.0 on Wednesday and received a new build sheet yesterday (Oct 18) showing that we have fully paid for our camper.

Whew!

For the flexibility of customization and quality of the escape, not to mention the customer service one gets, you are still getting one heck of a deal

Prices go up and prices also go down. For example they now offer the power awning as a $700 option so they have lowered the base price of the trailer (at least the 5.0TA) by $700 so in effect you now get a free Carefree Awning

Does this apply to customers with confirmed build sheets? Its my understanding that the price is fluid until the build sheet is confirmed and until then prices can change. You can confirm your build prior to the deadline to lock the prices in.

$250 CAD seems like snoozer to me compared to the overall cost. I probably paid more than that for the extra custom fabric they had me send them for our cushions.

Our build sheet was finalized, signed and confirmed last month for a 12/28 production date and we just received a revised build sheet with the surcharge - looks like this applies to any trailers not yet built and delivered.

The price increase will apply to even those like us, who have a confirmed and final build sheet, but will not be picking up the trailer until December or later.

This is the effect of the tariffs applied to a whole bunch of products some of which make no sense to many people. Many small businesses and their customers are victims of these uber politics. However this is politics, so I guess we cannot go there.

As it's less than 3/4 of 1% of the cost of the trailer, its a pretty small amount and we will have to live with it.
