Used Escape List Price / What To Consider

I recently listed our used 19 foot Escape Trailer on the Escape Forum. Unfortunately, I did not do the proper research before deciding on a reasonable list price. For those who are considering selling their Escape trailer you might want to consider the following:
Escape Trailers are one of the "Top rated RV's in North America"
The list price for a brand new 19 foot Escape Trailer is considerably higher than it was 3 to 4 years ago.
When comparing what other used Escape Trailers are being sold for ( on the Escape Forum) be aware that some of those list prices are in US dollars and some are in CAD
Also, consider the buying power of the USD in Canada.
Regards

You are absolutely correct. It behooves a buyer and a seller to do research and due diligence. There's also verbal contracts that are legally binding if one chooses to pursue it.

What to consider?

While what you posted is good advice, what you did to the people who agreed to buy your trailer (and even gave you a deposit) I find morally wrong.

I have sold stuff too cheap many times.. If I don't do adequate research up front, shame on me. A deal is a deal. Myself, I value my integrity over a few thousand $$. Over a lifetime, missing out on a thousand $$ here and there just doesn't amount to squat. I consider it tuition.

Many fine folks here would offer a suggested list price in advance of a seller posting it's for sale. Also, The ETI office may have an opinion on a good listing price.

When you sell or buy, you do your homework. I sold a Honda Accord for way to little thinking I wouldn't get a lot of interest. I learned the hard way. A deal is a deal and this group didn't need a lesson.

It is always up to the seller to research the selling prices BEFORE posting an ad with price and it is never okay to revise your price upwards once you have a deal with a buyer.
I recently bought a trailer from some upstanding folks who even though others offered them a $1000 more after we had verbally agreed to a price (full asking) kept to our deal. They actually were offended that someone would think they would do the dirty and renegade on the deal. Those are the folks I want to be involved with and luckily most folks I have had the pleasure of meeting in the fiberglass world meet this profile.

I agree 100% as many have said your word is your bond. Without it you are nothing,

My understanding is that once an agreement regarding price has been reached and a deposit is made by the purchaser to the seller, a legal contract to purchase is then in effect. If the seller tries to increase the price at some later date, even if the full agreed upon purchase price has not been paid, it is a breach of contract and the seller opens themselves up to legal action on the part of the purchaser.

Also, increasing the price after a deal is made is just a nasty thing to do.

I wonder if K&K got his trailer sold. As far as a lower offer, I have always figured that a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. And a quick, clean sale can more than offset a lower price. Loren

When I sell a trailer if I get a little less than I could have that is OK with me. I just figure all the years of enjoyment I got out of owning it -- that has value to me.

Would $100 have been enough? How about $10? What price integrity? I agree with the many who say your word is your bond and integrity is not for sale at any price or profit.

When my father bought his trailer he offered $1,000 under asking and the seller accepted. He stuck to the deal even though we know he got other higher offers. This is my kind of man.

That K&K would even come back on here after what he did just further shows the type of person he is.
