Picnic Table Cover

This looks like a worthwhile product. Feedback?

I have no experience with the above. I buy a roll (40" x 100') of Atlantis Collection Tablecover at our local Cash & Carry Grocery Outlet. I cut off a length (~10') to cover the table (clamping it down with those picnic table thingies) and throw away when done camping. I figure it costs me a little over a buck a camping trip.

Here is a direct link to the page you posted a pic of.
Barely Roughing It>Products>Picnic Partner

While I am a bit fan of a good quality table cloth, one that will last me years and not create waste, the fact that this one is fitted just would not work. Sure, it is great when the fit is right, but I have seen many different sizes of table tops, and many different thicknesses too.

That fabric looks just like what our table cloth is made out of, and we have had ours for quite a few years now.

Thanks for the link! Yes I imagine that the custom size would not work a lot of the time.

I agree in principle but where I usually camp, seagulls use my table as their toilet and, even after wiping it off with paper towels, I am uncomfortable running that much--if only miniscule amounts--excrement through my machine.

Karen, think cloth baby diapers.

One heck of a lot more excrement there.

For me, it is not just the principle of not wasting, it is the cost, most often lesser product and not as good to use, and I usually find it way more bother in the long run. Kinda like paper plates and plastic utensils, I am just not a fan. Many others think differently though.

We have always used heavy duty oilcloth because I have never felt there is anything that is as strong and lasts as long. Also, there are beautiful colors and prints available. You can get them online. All the picnic tables that weve used are different sizes, and what we do is use a 72" piece long which fits most picnic tables. We install grommets on top of a piece of webbing every 12 inches or so. Then we use bungee cords underneath the table to hold it in place. This is always worked great for us.

Smile

Here is a 40" x 300 feet (!) roll from Amazon that currently costs $15- well rated,

Robot Check

Having wasted a bunch of paper towels cleaning dust and bird poop off our camping dining area.... (off a thicker plastic reusable table cloth we had put out)

this suddenly seems like a good idea.

See, we use, and refuse, cloth dishcloths to wipe with, they work better that paper. Same with napkins, I find cloth is much better to use, and one can last quite a few meals before laundering. (as long as you are not eating sticky ribs or chicken wings.

Though not real oilcloth these days, those vinyl infused cotton fabric ones do sound great from all the reading I have done on them.
