LOL, sorry cudn't resist. Yes, Haboob, a giant wall of dust only occurs in the Middle East and AZ. It is quite an experience if you have never been in one. We were on a boat one year when the Haboob warning hit and we had about 10 min to find a cliff to tuck in behind and wrap all our faces with bandanas to ride it out. I guess we qualify as carrying a Haboob emergency kit with us.

A haboob (Arabic: هَبوب habūb "blasting/drafting") is a type of intense dust storm carried on an atmospheric gravity current, also known as a Weather Front. Haboobs occur regularly in arid regions throughout the world.

So I am ha boob then, as I am always blasting off at the mouth, and can create a certain "draft" effect.

A dust funnel cloud took up a tent at our campground in New Mexico. We could see the tent going miles and miles away into an uninhabited area. Do not think the owner found it.

I am interested in purchasing a screen room....probably a separate free standing one as I agree with the point that awnings need to be taken up where unexpected wind can occur. So, does anyone out there have one for sale, or further recommendations for ease of put up?

I've run into a few in the southwest, but when I was stationed at Camp Eagle (near Hue in Vietnam) they were far more impressive. We worked in large tents with the sides rolled up. You would hear a yell from those closest to the direction the storm was coming from, and had about 3-4 minutes to get the sides rolled down, or spend the next 4 hours cleaning red "dust" out of everything. It never blew down a tent, however these tents were heavy canvas & probably weighed as much as an Escape 17!

Speaking of screen rooms...

I know that at least one of you folks own the 6x6 CLAM, how's it working out IF you've actually used it? Has anyone made use of the side covers? do you need 2 or 3? I added it to my Amazon shopping cart a few days ago but haven't decided weather to pull the trigger on it as yet.

I have the smaller one and I like it, I had bought the larger one and returned it, too big and bulky. But the smaller one is perfect for 2 people and 2 dogs. Also got the optional rain covers, used both in Osoyoos last year. I believe the covers come in sets of 3?
