2009 19ft Escape For Sale - SOLD!

After much discussion, we have decided to sell our Escape 19. Our 8-year-old twin daughters are getting taller by the day and have decided that they don't like sleeping together on the dinette bed, nor separately on the dinette and bunk. To keep camping with family harmony, we have decided to get a larger trailer. For us, this has been a tough decision. We love our Escape! Details on our Escape are below:

Condition:
We picked up our Escape in September of 2009. We are gentle users and our trailer is as near mint as they come. The exterior has been treated with RV wax. The interior is cleaned after every use - fridge, floor, kitchen, bathroom, dining area, etc. We don't wear shoes in the camper. We put nothing in our black water tank but liquid -- no RV toilet paper, no "number two." We have used the stove primarily for boiling water, and choose to cook on a portable stove outside. We have maintained the battery by charging it a couple of times throughout the winter. When we upgraded from our tent trailer to the Escape, the first couple that viewed our tent trailer bought it immediately and commented that they couldn't tell that it had been used.

Options:
We have the extra insulation and thermal windows, additional window over sink, 3-burner stove, stove cover, receiver hitch for bike rack, exterior 110V outlet, exterior shower, exterior propane quick connect, front rock guards, bunk/cot, screen room (never used), stereo with iPod dock, TV ready (no TV -- we don't watch when camping, but wanted the option), and the starter kit. The sewer connection piping has never been used - we bought an additional one and have used that. The exterior graphics are gold.

Camper Location:
Bozeman, Montana

Pricing:
The camper retails for over $27,500. We are asking $26,000 (US).

Sorry to hear about your daughters not wanting to sleep together. Like others have said maybe a tent? Try posting the trailer on Fiberglass RV For Sale.com.

Re: 2009 19ft Escape For Sale

My first thought was that it isn't that the girls don't want to sleep together - it's that they don't want to sleep or even be in the same room with you.
At age 14 they probably won't want to camp at all.

A cheap solution you could try first is to buy them a tent so they have their own space.

My buddy's girls would spend hours in their tent, reading or playing cards.

I second the tent idea, kids love sleeping and spending time in tents away from their parents. Parents love getting them out from under foot as well.

Re: 2009 19ft Escape For Sale

Thanks for all the input! We've thought about the tenting option, but in Montana, there are too many bears around to make that a regular event. And maybe our girls are slow on developing sleeping independence or maybe they've heard too many bear stories, but they do not want to sleep separately from mom and dad while camping. They'll grow out of that eventually, but in the meantime we need to have a camper that works for the family.

Life happens! Too bad you need to sell, but I am sure it won't take long! Have you thought about posting on the Fiberglass RV forum?

Good luck!

Re: 2009 19ft Escape For Sale

We went though about 5 years of the same stuff, plus kids acting up.
We have three kids, other comments were she is looking at me.
So we put out two tents. One child in the trailer and two out one in each tent.
Finally sold the stick built and bought a 19er.
just the youngest now, so now and then him and I are out in the tent, boys night out?
My point is time do change.
Good luck in all your adventures.

Re: 2009 19ft Escape For Sale

I feel for you. When my daughter was 14 y/o she loved to go camping with me. THEN she hit 16 y/o and asked.... will there be a pool, river.. someplace to swim? How about boys... will there be boys there? If I said no to either one (particularly the BOYS), she'd ask to stay home. And she did. At 16, she was responsible enough to be alone. So, in two summers... I went to traveling with child to a single traveler. I'm glad I didn't 'upsize' for just those two years. She's now 19 y/o and I still have my trailer. Love them BOTH!

Re: 2009 19ft Escape For Sale

Finally got it posted on fiberglassrv. Thanks for the tip.

Because kids are constantly growing and then changing in attitudes of whether it's fun to hang out with parents, it's hard to make big decisions (such as campers) based on their needs and preferences. However, there are several families we camp with regularly, including some with boys, so we're hopeful that our kids will stick with us and camp for several more years. If my husband were a little shorter than his 6'4", we might get an Escape 17A. It looks like the dinette bed is slightly wider on that one than on the 19. But it sure is nice to have the bathroom on the 19!

Things happen for a reason and your kids are very lucky to have parents who are willing to go down the path you are. Good luck on the sale and your future camping excursions. MAKE MEMORIES

Re: 2009 19ft Escape For Sale

Thanks for the great supportive note! It's always good to hear encouragement.

We have found another camper now that we're interested in purchasing and are ready to have our sold. So we're willing to come down some on the price if someone is interested in purchasing our camper. Just let us know!

Here are some interior pics. Note the dinette converts to a bed, as well as slides side to side to allow easier access to the seats. Let me know if you or your brother would like more details.

Re: 2009 19ft Escape For Sale

We sold our Escape 19 last weekend. Now another happy family will be camping in that awesome camper. I'm sure we'll come back to get another Escape sometime in the not-too-distant future.
