Escape 21

Andrea:

Is your Escape 21 still available??

What is the usual vehicle power required to pull it?

I have a 4.0 liter Toyota 4-Runner which has ample power for a 17' Casita.

Thanks

Ridge Marriott

According to Escape's website, the GVWR of the trailer is 5000#, check your vehicles door jamb or manual for the 4-Runner's capacity. I believe it is okay, as others have towed with that vehicle.

I've towed my escape 21 from dallas to santa cruz via reno with a tacoma 4.0 6-speed stick TRD Off Road 4x4.... it towed it just fine but the gas mileage sucked (9.6 to 12 MPG). due to the 21 gallon tank, the per-tank range sucked badly too. I didn't use any sort of WDH or sway bar, however, my tacoma does have ride-rite airbags, which I inflated to about 40PSI to keep the truck from sagging under the tongue weight. we were running empty as it was a unplanned trip (we were in reno when the word came through, and didn't have the gear with us we otherwise might have). my tacoma is rated for 6500# max tow, with 650 lb tongue weight, 1200# truck payload (which you subtract the tongue weight from)

a few notes, the 'classic' 21's were 4500 or 4600 lb gross, the 5000# max number is for the new style squarer units.

I think this refers to the 2017-2018 Escape 21. In 2015, ours GVWR was (is) 4600 lbs.

We live in Tennessee and are interested in your trailer. Are you the original owner and if so, do you have the build sheet (we would like to see a copy if you could send it to us). Is everything in working order? Have you had any issues with it while you have owned it?
Thanks!
