Would you mind sharing information regarding the dinette fabric (manufacturer, pattern name, color, etc.) in your Escape? We like it and would like to look into it further. Thanks, Dale

Do not know pattern name or mfg. of the fabric, but you maybe could get this info by calling Escape Trailer in Chillwack B.C. 604-703-1650. On the outside the fabric is three colors of brown ranging from light brown to dark brown. The back of the cushions are a light brown vinel material. If you send me your email address I will send you several pic's of the dinette cushions. My email is tomswim939@gmail.com. Thanks for your interest.

Air conditioning possible?

I see that there is no air conditioning. Was the roof reinforced to allow for adding it later?

2008's did not have the reinforced roof but air was an option, just not a roof mount.

I suspect this was the Escape standard fabric in 2008 because our 2008 5.0 (purchased 2nd hand) has exactly the same fabric and color scheme.

I was thinking the same thing. Looks like the default fabric that was in our 05 17B. Should be easy for Tammy to tell them what the default was back then.

Escape 21 is no more

Hi Karen-
Thanks for asking about my signature. I was going to PM you but since the story has a good lesson for maintenance procedures, I decided to go ahead and reply here,

My husband and I were in a serious car crash on I-84 in Idaho. Both our Jeep Grand Cherokee and our Escape 21 were totaled BUT we escaped with minor injuries so we have a lot to be grateful for.

The accident was caused when I swerved to avoid a travel trailer tire that had fallen off an east bound trailer, crossed the median and headed for us right down our lane of travel. The Jeep wound up rolled on to its side skidding down the highway. The trailer stayed up but with damage to both the right and left sides (and unknown if there is frame damage). We love airbags!

The tale is a good object lesson to follow the torque wrench procedures that Escape recommends!!!!! (We were feeling superior that my husband had just tested ours all around.):angel

I've seen that once (although it was a cargo trailer rather than a travel trailer), a few years ago in Quebec on Highway 20. Fortunately everyone saw it in time and avoided the loose wheel and tire with only minor speed adjustments.

Yes, although wheels can be lost for reasons other than nuts loosening with time. They can be inadequately tightened when initially installed, studs can be broken by over-torquing, and sometimes the whole hub comes off due to bearing failure.

There is an intake (lower) vent for the refrigerator, plus a double vent from mid-window-height up, plus a roof vent. That's way more than the refrigerator needs: is there an air conditioner in the cabinet above the microwave (which is above the refrigerator), or provisions for one?

No. When we purchased trailer A/C was on the side not the top. A/C was poorly designed and did not last. We replaced it with a built in microwave.

So the extra vents are for an air conditioner - thanks.
A buyer could replace the microwave with another air conditioner of the same cabinet-mounted style (they are still used by some other trailer brands) if they wanted. Roof mounting an air conditioner would require the structural addition (as used in later years) plus wiring.

Think the trailer is sold, but you never know until you see the money. Will get back to you should the sale flip. Thanks for your inquiry.
