Re: ((SOLD))2008 RANGER FOR SALE

Hi: EGSKPN...Gee I'm considering going smaller with our tug and you went bigger. With retirement just over the horizon I want to go one vehicle 5 pass. pickup. How did you fit a 2010 Sierra under your 5.0? I thought all the new domestic pickups had too deep a box and stood too tall for a 5.0. Alf

Re: ((SOLD))2008 RANGER FOR SALE

We wanted more room, hence extended cab is bigger. Wanted more conveniences, power windows, sunroof etc..
The recommended max height at the rear tailgate is 54", with our set up it measures 53.5", so it works very well towing the trailer. We thought about the F150 but it was about 57", way too tall. We also wanted more power for the mountain passes, so the extra 100hp and higher torque works better.

Re: ((SOLD))2008 RANGER FOR SALE

Is your Sierra 2WD? That would bring the box down a little.
What ever you pull the 5.0 with, it's one sweet ride : - )

Re: ((SOLD))2008 RANGER FOR SALE

Hi Hokie - the Sierra is 4wd, which is another reason for the change. I guess our visit to Moab, Utah helped with that decision. Lots of back roads to tour down there.. 4wd also helps for easier resale down the road. When the trailer is hooked up there is still about 6" clearance at the tailgate. Oh, yeah, and the new color white matches the trailer..The unit when attached looks more suited to each other, not too big nor too small...
Sure like the extra power, it also has a nice feature which lets you hold the trans in any gear of the 6spd unit, so going up big hills/passes is much easier.

This spring the big trip to the East Coast is coming, will see how the mileage is then.

Ken

Re: ((SOLD))2008 RANGER FOR SALE

Hi Ken,
We'd looked at the Sierra, and really liked it, but was concerned that it was kinda close (but turns out not to be), and our dealer here is not someone I wanted to deal with. Our Nissan dealer is great!
When East, remember the Smokies, and the Blue Ridge Parkway! Beautiful! Maybe we can catch up sometime/somewhere when you are East?
We loved Moab, and Arches (as you can see from the photo) was beautiful! Wish we'd had more time for the back roads.

Hi: EGSKPN...Ken; If you get down in our neck of the woods you'll be able to tug along really fast as it's flat as P on a plate. No foothills here!!! We have water and elec. hookups so your welcome here... we've even camped in our own driveway ONCE... Forgot to take a key

Re: ((SOLD))2008 RANGER FOR SALE

Hi Alf/Hokie - went thru the Blue Smokies many years ago, so long ago it hurts the grey stuff. Was beautiful as I recall (with pain). Hope to get that way again, we also are thinking of a trip to the Florida Keys, maybe around the same time as the D500. Alf - we will stay in touch as we make our way east, are planning on all of the Maritimes as the main focul point.

Have a great day, EH!

Re: ((SOLD))2008 RANGER FOR SALE

Hi - we liked Moab very much, also. So we are planning on going back when we have more time, also. The last trip was interfered with due to work/vacation time (never enough ), but next time will be retired and plan on touring Utah much more extensively.

Our plan too! We had 2 1/2 weeks to come back from Chilliwack, and could have used 8 weeks EASILY!
