I did not order the inverter and decided to do it myself. Mounting the unit and running the wire was doable but a bit of a pain. I had a hard time determining what to use for the transfer switch, an electrician helped with the proper description then finding and installing was easy.

We use the inverter exclusively for the microwave. Fairly long cook times due there being three of us. I am disappointed in the large battery drain. Solar does not recover as we are frequently boondocking in heavy forest. Factory install was not considered but as others have said in makes the best use of your time.

As a side note I just made a change to the wiring after four years. The inverter came with 4 gauge and I needed to add a short run, easily found at a local big box hardware store (Menards). Having a hydraulic crimp tool helped.

I'm going to need one of these sooner or later. Can you recommend one? Thanks.

Mike beat me to the reply, that is the exact model. It has performed well. It does seem to have increased in price substantially.

$44 is still not a bad price for a good hydraulic crimper.

There is a good write up here for making up your own battery cables,
