On our previous camper RV replaced with the pioneer kit from Carefree and loved it . You take off a lot of weight off too because you will remove the heavy springs inside the tube . So simple and worked great . If I ever have a problem with my awning will get that pioneer kit again . This is our 3 rd awning , first A&E , these last 2 Carefree . Always have put straps on the awning arms , check that everything is tightened and in 30 + years never had a awning unroll . The straps are very important . Pat

What I would worry about is that too much worrying is bad for health and can result in an early death.

Yeah, that is something that I definitely do. I guess it's in my nature after 30 years as a military and airline pilot. One thing I do know, if it's manufactured or operated by a human, it's subject to failure.

I use short ball end bungees on the arms, but that won't prevent an unfurl if that were to happen. Something physically would have to hit the switch to open for an unfurl to occur, but would be very rare.
During my orientation, I was instructed to roll the strap into the awning and have the tab end at the middle of the outside light. That way the loose end flaps on the light and not on the fiberglass side of the trailer.
