Question Best / cheapest place to buy Horst Miracle Probes?

Hi all

I will supply ETI with 1 set Black and 1 set Grey Horst miracle probes.

What is the best and cheapest place to buy?

They are $63 plus shipping here:

Order Horst Miracle Probes - Buy Horst Miracle Probes here

But open to suggestion. :-)

Thanks.

We got ours here :

https://www.rv-partsplus.com/orders/accessories

USD((at 2/2016 exchange rate) they are in Ontario): 65.00 + 12.00 shipping to ETI

They were on the ball, return call to confirm order in 2 hours, shipped next day.

That is very helpful. Thanks. :-)

And

To anyone - I thought Horst Probes were no longer made?

Or is that incorrect?

Not sure if they're still made or not, but there seem to be very few suppliers and they do come at a premium. We paid about $100 for both sets, not to mention the ridiculous shipping costs to Chilliwack. Not practical to have them installed on the delivery date, so they have to be supplied for the build.

horst probes

I think if you can get them all in delivered to ETI for under $100 CDN that is a good deal, better than both sets I have had shipped to ETI. I got flamed for suggesting this in a previous thread but they should be an option.

Would be a nice addition to the options list Hugh, but then of course there's the issue of who Escape can use as a supplier.

Unfortunately I think you are correct, when I do a search for Horst Dynamic nothing comes up so they may be out of business. Everybody who wants them better get them now!

Thanks Bill 75 for the RV Parts Plus recommendation..... I ordered from them and have had a great experience.

It is nice they are located in Canada.... to use my USA credit card I went into the "usa" part of their store, but just requested they ship to ETI.

They ship to ETI all the time, and they "know the protocol" so I am confident that all will be labelled properly.

Rob from RV Parts Plus was very responsive and a great communicator..... turns out that RV Parts Plus has been grandfathered in as the distributor of Horst probes... the late 70's inventor of Horst probes has retired, but Valterra bought the rights and equipment..... so Horst probes live on. He just emailed me this as i asked. They did have pretty much the lowest price I found and they are great to work with.

Glad I got mine ordered, and Horst probes are still available. I know that a while back they weren't and prices shot way up as availability was low.

Interesting.
Valterra doesn't seem to have even integrated the Horst probes into their Sewer & Sanitation listings yet, but they're listed under New RV Products

Horst Miracle Probes

I went to www.HorstMiracleProbes and then spoke to them via phone, took my order and said they likely would be shipped from their Canadian office-they were.
Black: $35. US, Grey:$30. US, $12. US shipping. RV-Parts Plus, Branford, ON N3S 3G8. ETI received them in about a week.-Ethan

Horst Probes

Are Horst Probes still a good idea? Seeing some mixed reviews on Amazon. Do they use the standard wall gauge or do you need to order another one?

They use the standard wall gauge. We have the Horst Probes and like them. We have had the trailer since Sept 2014, and the reported levels are still accurate, inspite of the fact that we haven't used the wand for the black tank or used any chemicals in the grey tank.

In our previous trailer we would sometimes get readings indicating 1/3 or 2/3 full even though we knew the tanks were empty. When that happened we would do a tank cleaning with the wand, or and rinse the tanks out, which would fix the problem.

On the other hand, several folks have pointed out that there are other ways to figure out the level in the tanks, so whether or not the probes are worth it is up to you...

I've been shopping on Amazon since it was a tiny little site with only a few items. Nowadays I probably buy 4 or 5 grand worth of stuff from them a year. One thing I've concluded for sure - Amazon reviews are often not worth the space they take up on the web page.

As for the probes themselves, they are very accurate and we are quite satisfied with them. Is that worth the cost? You decide.
