Booster Cables
Don't know what took me so long to figure this out.. spring camping off of the grid in the Bow valley east of Canmore this past weekend facing charge anxiety with continuous cloudy days, sub zero nights, and snow nicely accumulating on the roof top solar cell.
Seriously was finally considering it was time for that gen set. Friend of mine from further north suggested the old Canadian automotive fix.. booster cables. You can just make out the pretty blue 12ft 6 gage wires in the snow ahead of the truck.
Skied all day Sat & Sun.. came back each night and connected the cables the old fashioned way = warm nights + still lots of charge in the mornings to start the car and keep the furnace running while the supply ship was away at the slopes.. Best $26.99 I've spent in a long time.. will delay that $1000 gen set purchase a little longer ;-)

We got a lot of snow here in Calgary over the last few days. Hardly summertime yet!

Thats not really all that far north Jim, Just that in the mountains it really can snow pretty any time. We woke up to about 1 foot of heavy wet snow in Banff about 10 years ago on fathers day weekend in June

Not so much being north as elevation and proximity to the Rockies.
Calgary is about 3,500' ASL and Canmore is about 4,600' ASL.
My son went skiing at Sunshine Village on Sunday and said it was great ski conditions - lots of new snow.
Spring does eventually come to the area and then it is an incredible camping area. Till then, having a snow sport to enjoy makes the wait all the more fun!

Sunshine Village, Banff closes for this winter season on Victoria Day (May 19) plenty of snow for fantastic skiing for two more weeks.
Attached are the conditions this morning and weather forecast for tonight/tomorrow.. looks like the double pane/extra insulation package will still get a real workout for a few more days

About 300 km (200 miles) south of my home... but yes, 1300 feet higher.

My picnic table last weekend. There is a leaf rake beside the snow shovels. We are prepared for any weather.

LOL.....You know, right about now would be the best time to temp me, that's for sure. While I love winter, I am getting pretty tired of this in between stuff.

No doubt the mossies are all confused with this weather. My wife has a good collection of outdoor 'art' hanging along that retaining wall.

Yup I used my picnic table as evidence and the savings on the generator fund to take advantage of some web sales today (Happy Cinco de Mayo!) and buy a new pair of backcountry skis for next season (only five months away now ) and a new folding camp chair for when I finally get to shut the furnace down for a bit and sit outside enjoying a beer and the bugs
