CO detector beeping

I forgot to switch off my batteries while my Escape 17 was parked. When I recharged by plugging in to my house, the CO detector started beeping. It won’t stop unless I switch the batteries off. Any suggestions? Do I need to replace it? Replacing looks kind of complicated.

Check the Owners Manual for the detector. Mine is not handy, but I believe the beeping signals LOW BATTERY, and need to be replaced.

How long was it ‘parked’? How long was it plugged in charging?

Ours started beeping two nights ago. Replaced the batteries (two AA batteries) all quiet now. They lasted two years. I should have pulled them when it was in storage. That being said CO detectors unlike smoke detectors only last seven years at which time they start beeping and won’t quite even with a battery change. I had one do this in my house, changed it out five days later the one downstairs did the same thing. Both were seven years old.

Switching the batteries off won’t effect the CO detector, maybe your talking about the propane detector.

Are you talking the detector down by the floor? if so and it's a series 35 here's the manuals write up on the beeping.

OP lists trailer as a 2012 17B. That’s about the normal lifetime for a propane detector. I’d guess a new one is in order.

We need clarification. Are we talking carbon monoxide detector or propane gas detector?

Does a 2012 17B have a CO detector that’s hard wired to the house batteries? I don’t think so, but could be wrong. I suspect OPs propane detector is alarming.

Ditto. I installed my own CO detector ( battery operated ). Also have replaced propane detector ( hard wired ).

My guess as well. Propane detectors have a definitive lifespan. They should be replaced after the expiration date on the detector.

Since it's a 2012, my guess is the Propane detector near the floor. Did the 2012 models have a combination Propane/CO detector there?

Thanks for responses. I couldn’t locate a manual for the detector but it has a phone number on the back so I will call to get a replacement . It says on the back that it is due to be replaced.

The sticker date on the back relates to the date of manufacture. My new propane gas detector had a date that was six months earlier than the date I purchased it. The distributor told me ( through the dealer ) that the expiry clock doesn't start running until the unit is hooked up to electricity.

Owyheebabs (that’s a mouthful), Just for clarification, are you referring to a stand-alone CO Detector with 2 AA removable batteries, or a combination CO/Propane Detector that is hardwired into the 12 V system? We are all curious
