Coleman Mach 3 PS installed

Hi everyone,
My wife Katie and I recently purchased the Glacier Eggspress from Sue and Dave. We live is Seattle and have a home in Whitefish MT that we rent out on VRBO part time.

We have a few weeks off this summer and plan to boondock in the GE in NW MT. The GE came from the factory with the reinforced roof and wiring fo AC but just a roof vent. We decided we wanted AC and since we won’t be plugged in it would need to run off an generator/inverter.

I intimately decided on a Coleman Mach 3 Power Saver due to the low amp draw allowing it to run using a 2000w generator. The main drawback I see with this unit vs the Penguin 2 is that it is 4” taller. The upside is that it is 17lb lighter, draws less amperage, and “made/assembled” in the USA.

I’m happy to report the installation was a easy. Installed a 15amp breaker. Removed the vent and calking, muscled the unit into place, installed the Chill Grill and Bob’sur uncle. 4ish hrs total.

Happy to report the Yamaha 2000 runs it with no problem. I have made sure to turn off the converter before starting it. The Yamaha will run it in power saver mode on the Low Cool setting. I tested it out here in Seattle when it was 88F this week. Since it’s a 13.5 BTU unit it cooled to down to 60f in 15ish minutes. I ran it for 3ish hrs and used a bit over half of the 1.1gal gas in the Yamaha.

Hope this is helpful,
Chris and Katie
