Thank you . Robbed that one from my camper before I sold it . I love the wood but going to make it easy for me . For frig I plan on installing snaps on each side . I usually make my strap from grey vinyl .I still have some . I like to take strap off when we are settled . Same idea I used on the bathroom door . Pat

Pat, you've done it; congratulations! I had asked in an earlier post if you put in the plywood panel that narrowed the space behind the fridge, did you? Just curious, but as you've seen, Tom had great success using his two baffles, while I think Ron is operating a professional cold storage facility with his three-chambered flue design

. Anyway you slice it, you've likely greatly improved your fridge's performance! Hope we cross paths someday so I can see your handi work.

Thanks Rich . I redid the baffle at back to 45 degree angle . I saw that in many instruction manuals from Dometic . Mine from factory was at a 15 degree angle . Domectic suggested if you had more then 1 In clearance in back to add this baffle at 45 degree. I also added more reflex on top of what was there up to my fan . I also put back the metal on back like Reace wanted . I have really insulated the frig . Now will see . Pat

Sounds good. IMHO, the insulation and baffle are the most important mods to make. The effectiveness of the 45 degree baffle was proven by Tom and the insulation is a no brainier. I had zero insulation meaning my fridge was backed into an oven. Kinda hard to get cool in that environment. You'll be fine, I'm certain!

Probably an understatement

I've had boats that had bare fiberglass in areas like lockers. When the sun shone on the exterior the interior was like you say, an oven

Insulation is likely one of the most helpful mods to do.

Just curious has anyone installed the flue extension kit and vented the flue exhaust out through the side of the trailer?

I don't know about anyone else but would you like to cut a hole in your Escape ? Sorry not me . Mine vents through the roof top . The only item I would of used was there is a flue extension that brings it up higher . Good luck getting that it is in Australia . Pat

Hmmm...rooftop vent .......seems like it should be fairly simple to cut down a dryer exhaust pipe (3 ft long 4 inch diameter aluminum) long enough to reach from the present exhaust up to the rooftop vent. Wire the top end to the grid in the vent and it should be good to go! Maybe I'll have the shop do that when they replace mine.

You go first !The extension I am talking about raises the flue about 3-4 inches over the condenser just at top of frig . Pat

Absolutely, I'd have installed on in a flash if I had one when I was doing my mods. I'd have zero concerns about the required hole for it. It's in one of the least concern areas for a hole. One the roof, another hole, probably not, but in that location, no worries.

Essentially that's exactly what I did. My baffle creates an isolated flue, with it's own convection current, that goes up to the roof vent.

Actually I had planned on pulling the rooftop vent anyway to install exhaust fans, but I think extending a controlled flow route for hot gases may be more effective - and I wouldn't have to futz with running power lines.
