EMS + Voltage Regulator

I have a Tech Research Corp Voltage regulator and am looking at installing it on the shore side of my EMS. Coming home I had an EMS shutdown. I can't remember if it was hi or low.

My regulator is a auto-transformer that can increase or decrease line voltage a modest amount. I no longer have the manual and can't remember the inc/dec capabilities.

It's a rather bulky unit and weatherproof so I could plug it into the pedestal and then the trailer or install it inside alongside the EMS.

I wouldn't buy one again but since I have this thing, I'm thinking I might as well use it.

Can't decide if it would be worthwhile or not. As I said above, the numbers are modest so it wouldn't be enough to make a difference if the rise/drop was a significant amount.

I found when the the voltage dropped was in summer heat with other campers using more power for air conditioning. Also it seems that power hungry appliances are now more prevalent in use, thus shortages will be more common. But like you said, weight is always a factor to consider...

I don't have the EMS manual here(if I got one). At what point does our EMS shut down for low voltage?

I’m probably lucky but I’ve never had a voltage shutdown. I have seen 114 on the low side and 126 on the high side on the readout . I always feel good when I set up on a hot
afternoon when everyone is using AC and my readout is 118 to 122 I feel reassured that the CG I am in has a darn good electrical system and that they aren’t experiencing brownout on their incoming service. When I was working, I had 208 voltage motors on pool pumps that kicked out on hot days in a new subdivision until the utility reworked the service. In the meantime I had the motors overhauled to 192 and they would run clear down to 178V.
