Exposed Water Lines

A general question for anyone who has a current 19 or 21 ft model.

Are there any exposed water lines under the fiberglass trailer body? Also - is the black tank located inside as in the 17B model?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, like those! And the black water tank. Is it located inside or under the body on the 21 ft'er?

The black tank is inside, under the bed (in the 21).

The only exposed water line on the 19 is the pickup line to the bottom of the fresh water tank. Both the fresh water and grey water tanks are exposed under the trailer. The black tank is located inside the trailer.

So the water lines that service the kitchen run inside - likely underneath the bed?

Thanks for checking. Paul

Correct...under the top front edge of the bed for the kitchen lines.

The black tank is inside (sitting on the floor) in all models (with a toilet, of course), of all years. It is under the toilet, and generally extending into an adjacent cabinet (forward under the dinette in the 17' and 19', forward under a cabinet in the 5.0TA, toward the street side under the bed in the 21').

In all models, the freshwater tank is behind the axle(s), under the floor, with the tank and the hose to the pump exposed (unless covered by the optional sprayed foam).
In all models, the grey waste tank is ahead of the axle(s), under the floor, and exposed (unless covered by the optional sprayed foam).

Yes, but only for the 19'.
  • The 17' has the kitchen sink and bathroom on the same side as the water pump and heater (the street side), so there is no plumbing crossing the trailer.
  • The 19' has the kitchen sink on the curb side, but the water pump and heater on the street side, so hot and cold water lines need to cross or go around the trailer; as Eggscape showed they cross under the bed.
  • The 21' and 5.0TA have the kitchen sink on the curb side, but the water pump and heater on the street side, so hot and cold water lines need to cross or go around the trailer; instead of looping around under the dinette (which would require going all the way to the back wall), they go down through the floor and cross - exposed unless you have the optional underfloor sprayed foam - underneath. The photo from tdf-texas shows this, along with the grey waste plumbing, from the street side.
  • The supply plumbing to the bathroom of the 21' runs under the bed.

Any exposed water lines underneath and outside the shell are covered with the foam under the spray foam option which insulates the entire under carriage, tanks, water lines and the floor of your Escape.

Without the spray foam option on the 21 and 5.0TA, the PEX tubing is exposed which can lead to UV damage.

My trailer now has foam pipe insulation on all the exposed PEX.
