You do need to do this to force out the water sitting in there.

As long as you open the toilet valve to allow it to drain back, there should be no issue. Two winters ago, I did forget this step, and surely won't again.

It is cheap, but if not needed, why use it? Flushing water lines out due to their small diameter is not too tough, but to flush the water heater out would be much more difficult, if you could even effectively do it at all.

Have you tried dropping Reace a note to see what he has to say?

Thanks guys.
I ended up following the Escape directions. I muscled the mattress out of the way and used the by pass and went by the book.
This forum and I never did get a definitive answer on weather or not my plan would work. I read a lot of "why would you" and so on but no "yes it would work" or "No it won't work".
I assume nobody wants to get blamed for anything they may say that might create a problem. And that is fine.
It just seemed to me that if the entire water system was filled with RV anti freeze and pink poured from every spigot, all would be good. We never use the fresh tank for drinking even though the anti freeze is potable. Water in our rig is used mainly for rinsing off dishes or muddy feet or toilet use. Even with that said, I flush out all tanks every spring. It often takes 5 or so flushes but what the heck.
The rinse out of the hot water tank is relatively simple. There are hose connection fixtures that aide in rinsing.

What I want to know is why you are winterizing already? Surely your camping season isn't over yet?
October in Osoyoos? Oregon?

Well, you're right there I guess gbaglo. We just got back from Porteau Cove. Had a site right on the ocean. Nicest camp site around here I think and just 20 mins away.
Being winterized doesn't mean we can't use the trailer all winter it means we can!
I'm fine with pit toilets, bottled water, bacon and beer.

Jim: Can I show my extreme ignorance and ask what toilet valve we're talking about? I use the low point drain method, small amount of anti-freeze for the p-traps and we don't typically get very freezing cold weather, but I think I'm missing doing something with the toilet! Best find out before I do the process this year!

Christine, I am referring to the flush valve. If you open it, it allows the water to flow back to the low-point drain. Two winters ago, I kinda forgot to do it, and it cracked the flush valve. Not expensive to replace, just a bit of a pain in the butt is all.

So to speak
Thanks, Jim. I'll remember that this year.

Do you mean the lever that allows the water to flow into the toilet- flush valve?

I do not know if this fits this thread or not, I have a confession to make, I have am now a Yukon Escapee; I no longer live in the Yukon.
I am now a resident of Campbell River BC.

Prior to leaving Whitehorse I sold 47 litres of trailer anti freeze for $5.00.

I grew up in Campbell RIver; nice town. And, while I did enjoy my visit to the Yukon, I have to agree with baglo -- you did good.
