Go Power Monitor - Over Voltage

I've noticed several times a day while we're camping the monitor will flash non stop for 10-15 minutes and eventually work as expected. After reading the manual it would appear it flashes when its over voltage. Just curious if this is normal behaviour or if there's something I should be doing to resolve it. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find much via the forum or google.

I know nothing, but would ask, are you on shore power, or battery, is solar involved, a generator ( not likely )?

We've only battery power only. We've exclusively camped off grid so far.

We had a similar problem while hooked up to shore power. In our case it was a defective converter; not an issue when boondocking. I agree that you should call GoPower. They were helpful and easily accessible via phone.

I would check the fluid level in your batteries right away.

I second a call to go power. I had a code on my readout that said “not charging “. I called them and they were very helpful . I like it when they end the call “Try that,
And if it doesn’t fix it, call us back”.

Thanks for the suggestions. I haven't checked the battery level since we bought it in May. I'll do that when we're back at the camper this weekend.

Just following up to let you know the water levels were low, I topped them off and haven't had the flickering since. Now onto new issues with the fridge /battery drain on our current camping trip, we're currently working through diagnosing them with ETI.

If you haven't already, mention to them about the water being what I gather to be really low. I'm thinking it might cause other issues if it was low enough to cause the solar controllers over voltage indication.

Will do. Out of curiosity how often do you top yours off? We picked up the trailer in May and went on 3 two day trips so far, wouldn't expect it to be that low already.

I don't know if it's even relevant anymore, but I checked the battery levels on my trailer as soon as I got home from Chilliwack and found them to be both low. I've found that I need to top them up about every 6 months since then - Texas heat seems to accelerate the need.

I suspect Escape just installs them but doesn't check the battery water levels. You might want to check yours asap as low water levels can damage the battery.

About the same, every 6 months +/-. Whenever the 1st use is in late spring, and before we leave for the winter.

Thanks. I'm currently working with ETI on a separate issue with our power going from full to pretty much empty in the evenings using nothing but the water pump (we have 2 170w panels and 2 6v batteries).

No idea if it makes sense but I switched the fridge from Auto which was set to Gas, to Gas and noticed the voltage stopped dropping. Is it possible even though the Fridge said Gas it was actually on DC power?

We've never used power for anything but the water pump and the occasional light, and so far the batteries have been either dead or below 30% by 8pm on all of our trips.

I'm going to do some more investigations on the weekend at the storage facility, anything else I should try to narrow down whats pulling all the power?

I check water levels every couple of months and usually have to top up. My trailer is plugged in 24/7 when not camping.

Let your fridge warm up a bit, then switch it on to auto, then check for the propane lighting by looking in the side wall fridge vent. If it is cooling without a flame, then it is on DC.

I wish we would have purchased a 2-way fridge, and would like to disable the DC on our 5.0 that was born in October 2018. Has anyone successfully done this to a new model fridge?

Actually, it may be the other way around - the high voltage causing the low battery liquid levels. I'd get a plug in voltage meter & keep track of what the controller is producing

Perry: What model fridge? I haven't done this but looking at schematic for the DM2663 as an example there is typically a separate 30A fuse inline with the 12V heater. It may be possible to pull this fuse to disable the heater from operating and not affecting the rest of the fridge. Even if it lets you still manually switch modes to DC it won't drain your battery (but obviously your fridge will warm up).

Perry, how do you select 12vdc on the newer fridges? On the older rmd855X it would be difficult to select it by mistake.

Run the fridge in auto without 120v or propane and it will switch to DC all by itself.

You can manually select DC from the fridge control panel by turning off "auto" and selecting DC using DC selector button.
