So they can charge for full hookups?

Funny I don't know if I've seen one that didn't in AK or in Canada. I assumed it was due to fire risk and not electrical draw although if they are open in winter months I could understand the electrical draw also.

The separate thermostat is hugely more functional at maintaining a comfortable temperature. Care should be taken to not have bed covers dangling in front of the heater. In the attached link concern was expressed about having the heater too low per instructions. The vinyl floor did get very slightly warm, so I made the recent adjustment to the louvers. The relay used has its own supply for the low voltage thermostat making it a very easy install. See attached:

I wonder if it would be possible to install the heater, or at least the front plate, upside down so that hot air is directed up instead of down at the floor, without need of “straightening” the louvers?

The electric heater has a hole for the thermostat, so the cover is one way only. Your propane heater cover can be rotated 180 though.

Could the whole thing be installed upside down?

I'll have to look into that when I do it again in my new 21, next summer, I plan on doing #4 of this heater install in my new Escape.

🤔 really happy the standard heater works so good on our 5.0 after reading about all these sites with marginal electrical hookups. Wonder what would happen if some one comes in towing with a Tesla? Guessing 1 of those would melt down the entire campground if they plugged in.

Most cg's charge more for 50amp hook ups vs 30 amp vs non electric. Do not forget hookups also include water plus sewer in some instances. So those units that use a lot of electric via extra heaters can possible exceed 30 amps, particularly those with dedicated external heater hookups that some members have installed to run dehumidifiers or heaters exclusive of the on board systems.

My previous trailer was a a Bigfoot with ducted heating which was very quiet and a blessing after putting up with the noisy furnaces on my Casitas and Parkliner.
The newer model heater on my Escape is not quite as quiet but still not a sleep disturber, at least for me. I'm quite happy with it.
There's no problem with it heating the whole trailer in these small rigs.

I’ve camped down into the single digits and the heater works well. No need for ducts, even my bathroom stayed warm. And rather quiet for this style of propane heater. However, it sure does suck the propane once temperatures drop below freezing! When I am hooked up to electric, I use a small ceramic heater that even on low-750 watts- keeps my 19 comfortable.

This is our experience also, right down to the small ceramic heater!

I don't see ducting to be a big advantage. We have a 19 and this really isn't a very large space to heat. A 17 would be even less. Our furnace works perfectly for the space we are in.
