It has been my experience with the F150 anyway, that by the time I can move my foot from the brake pedal to the accelerator, the engine has already restarted and there is no lag so I personally do not find the feature annoying. I would also note that it takes a certain amount of pressure on the break pedal to activate auto stop/start. I'm somewhat curious as to why Marry commented about an experience in the Netherlands and still not being over it.

Traffic in the Netherlands is congestested. Lots and lots of traffic lights in the inner cities. Lots of people riding their bike, who, most of the time, have right of way.
Resulting in countless auto stop/start. Not only ours, but every ones. Honk honk honk everywhere, people eager to get moving.
In the country and on the freeways no problem. But the cities...
No wonder the Netherlands has many many roundabouts.
