Why not create a "rope" with butyl and use that to seal the lid of the battery box? It won't get hard, so you can take the lid off to remove the batteries if you do that during winterizing.

The butyl sticks to both surfaces, as you have to open the box periodically I'd prefer something that releases.

Yes, battery(s) on the original 5.0 are inside under the dinette seat passenger side.
