•Locking Water Fill Hatch

Does anyone that has recently received their Escape TT have a locking water fill hatch as listed on the Escape web site. Kind of vunerable nor being able to secure the water supply.

Yes, is standard on the Escape trailers.

Mine locks, but I wouldn't call it secure. I'm sure it would be fairly easily breached if someone had some reason to do so.

That is definitely different from our 19' picked up in April 2013. Maybe they temporarily ran out of the locking covers when yours was produced.

Any chance there was a cover on yours that may have broke off during shipment?

That looks like it would be easier to do the hook up. I find getting my fingers into the recess to tighten the plastic nut on the hose is a pain.
On the other hand, the door version looks cleaner visually. Inside, it's full of dust and dirt.

Looks like ours without the cover. Yes, ours is a pain on the fingers too but you definitely should have a locking water hatch. That one is an invitation for someone to tamper with the water supply.

Is the locking cover design recessed into the trailer body ? Where does the locking arm catch the housing ?

Not exactly like the one on my 2009 17B, but close.
EDIT-- If you look at the picture of the 21' on the Escape Trailer Industries site, it looks like the same part as yours is installed.

Is this the style of water fill with locking cover used on the Escapes with the device ? Recessed rather than flush mount.

That style is definitely not locking. I have seen them before. They do look to be the same size as the locking ones though. Maybe a swap out if you want. Either way, I would query Escape on it.

I picked up my 19' in late June and I too have an "exposed" fresh water fill/hook up. If they're supplier couldn't fulfill their production needs, I understand. But I do recall the original ad/website noting a locking cover and believe they should let us swap-out what was provided in the interim with a locking hatch cover. As Jim noted above, they do appear to have the same screw pattern and threaded connections so it wouldn't be too difficult. Who's going to contact Tammy?

Had the non-locking on our previous trailer for 3 years. Have the locking one on our new 15. The locking one is not going to stop anyone from messing with your system if they are determined (kind of like the door locks) I have to say in 3 years we never had a problem with any tampering. We actually find the plastic door and flap kind of a pain. Still, it would be interesting to know why the change. Hey, on the other hand, it sounds like most people are now getting 15 inch wheels.

Changes are somtimes good but not inherently so. It seems that the 19 will have 15" wheel and a stronger frame.
The locking water fill hatch is listed on the web site. I emailed Escape concerning the locking water fill hatch. The results are pending.
When I added water to the fresh water tank nearly 20% of the water runs back out of the fill tube. I thought the vent was plugged but I can blow air through it. Some water continues to run back out after I have added 8 gallons.
The 1/3 full indicator lights up after I have added 4 gallons.

I have notice the non locking on several production pictures in recent weeks. I kind of like it as it looks a lot easier to hook up and I don't see the locking ones that I have had on previous trailers stopping anyone from doing anything anyway. Also I don't see anyone in a campground messing with it anyway.

This is the locking door on my 2008.
The recess makes it difficult to attach the hose to the city water. I don't have fat fingers, but it takes some doing.
The lock itself is flimsy and the cover is as sturdy as the cover on a Tupperware container. I'm easily bending it in the second photo.
That said, it does cover the fresh water inlet.
Of course, if somebody wanted to put LSD in your fresh water tank, they'd not want to take it themselves.

HAH! Is that the worry? I've been trying to figure it out. On the 2005 I doubt it was even an option and it's never even occurred to me to worry about the water tank access. Mine has a 19 gallon tank, so someone would have to really want to waste a lot of LSD to put enough in for us to actually drink (versus washing dishes or showering with).
Is there a rash of water tank tampering issues I should know about but don't because I'm a newbie?
