quickie flush

Has anyone installed a quickie flush in their Escape? I am looking at the bathroom in Fiver and I am not sure it is possible.

Re: quickie flush

I'm thinking they are referring to a tank flush, where you have an external source of water to try and clean your tank and sensors.Someone mentioned an install on a 19' black tank but still not pictures.

Re: quickie flush

I knew what it was because I had the link saved. It is something I am considering installing. I have heard good things about them.

Re: quickie flush

Too bad I had my tanks sprayed or I'd try to use one. Hmmm, maybe I can find my black tank under that foam? If you do the install Jim, please post pictures.

Re: quickie flush

I had already asked Tammy if they install a black tank rinse system. She wasn't aware of it but now that I have a link, I think I'll email it up to them and have Reace install it before they spray the tanks with foam for the all season package.

Jim, the black tank is the one in the lhs front bench area so i wonder if it could be accessed through there.

I bet it easily could, for sure.

Re: quickie flush

I may be afraid that if it leaked you would have a mess up there. Ideally it should be on the exterior.

Re: quickie flush

Vmull has installed one (or something similar). Search for his posts here on his install. Looks like something that would be very beneficial.

Re: quickie flush

I wouldn't worry about hooking it up under the bench, ensuring a good seal would be easy, plus it has a back flow preventer and only gets clean water put into it.

Still though, if there was easy access from the outside, that still would be the best way to go.

That is exactly my question. I haven't seen the directions, but on the other forums it appears the connection to the black tank is through the top. But that assumes the part I can see is actually the top of the tank and I can't see how they are getting through the side given the double wall of the bathroom/fiberglass shell on the Escape.

Re: quickie flush

I have installed this on 2 other trailers, black tank was accessible underneath. You install it on the wall opposite the gauge probes or 90 degrees to it. The purpose is not only cleaning the tank but also the probes. You have a 10' long plastic hose you install near your water connection, normally by the sewer hookup. You hook up your water and your sewer with a clear plastic insert so you can monitor the discharge. Once it is clean and clear you are done. I guess I should have had Escape install this prior to spray foam. Oh well there is always the stick sprayer down the toilet method or ice cubes.

Re: quickie flush

I installed a Quickie Flush on our Escape 5.0. We are very happy with it. On the 5.0, the forward wall of the black tank is accessible through the left forward cargo hatch. Except for having to work through the small opening, installing it is easy.

I didn't use the tubing and hose connector that came with the kit. Instead, I bought an external water inlet and pressure-resistant tubing.

I helped a friend install one on his Escape 19. Access to the black tank there was even easier.

To use it, I connect a dedicated hose to the external inlet. Open the black drain valve, then turn on the water. I time-share by draining the grey at the same time. By the time the grey is empty, the black is rinsed. I don't use a clear elbow; I'm not interested in watching the water become clear.

Re: quickie flush

I have installed them on 2 other trailers, SOB with tank access underneath. You install the spray head on one of the sides opposite the sensors, run the supply hose to the street side. At the dump, you hook up a water supply to the street side connection and a plastic sewer hose extension. You turn on the water and watch it thru the clear pipe to see how clear the run off is. Once clear, you are done.

Omygosh! How simple. I finally got around to looking in the front storage area--I did not realize how big the black tank is. Answers both my questions and I ordered one today.
Thank you.

Great, you will be pleased with it. Here are a couple tips. The fitting at the nozzle is a garden hose connection. You know, garden hoses do leak sometimes. It's easy to check for leaks through the cargo hatch while it's operating. And if you winterize, make the water inlet lower than the nozzle. Then you just have to push in on the check valve in the water inlet to drain the line.
