We have the 4.3 cu ft fridge in our 2016 19'. I was filling the drain cup in the back, to block off the ambient air, and I noticed a fan mounted horizontally that looks like a computer fan.
I called ETI and asked them about it (because I assumed they installed it) and they said it was installed by Dometic and that I needed to call them or use this forum with any questions.
The person said the fan was thermostatically operated (no switch). Does anyone know what kind of temperature it takes to operate the fan? Is it based on the fridge temperature or the chimney temperature?
Our fridge temp was starting to climb with an outside temp of 85F and the sun shining on the DS wall but I never saw the fan turn on.

There is a thermostat mounted on the condenser of the fridge that controls it. If I remember correct it was a 135 degrees switch when I pulled our fridge. Some of us have added a switch in parallel around the thermostat to be able to manually control the fan but it requires pulling the fridge to wire.
Yours may not come on until it gets really hot or like ours may never come on.
With Tom's guidance, I installed a switch on my fans (some, like mine have two fans) so I could control when it came on. I never heard mine ever come on so I took over on its behalf. Helped too; at least I think it did.

135F makes sense inside the chimney. Your fan never came on because it didn't get hot enough or do you think it was malfunctioning?

Looking through the old post, our switch was 150 degrees which was way to high to ever allow the fan to come on. I know on the newer 2 door models that was supposedly corrected. Reguardless it's controlled by a switch now.
As Jubal said it's clipped to the refrigerant line at the condenser toward the top of the fridge.
