I slipped mine out (it slips out) and let it hang down in the corner. See the picture in post #146 earlier...

I'll give it a try- do you think it will help the freezer?

It should help both....did you try the refrigerator guard accessory? I really think that it helps also.

I do not understand how the water in the drain hole makes a difference? I would think it would drain right through. Is there a trap?

If there is not a trap then there must be something to retain the water. Would not that same device retaining the water keep air from entering the cavity and blowing out the flame.

I am currently escaping the rains in the Carolinas and believe my refrigerator goes out while traveling. How do I know, I don't, only that the temp in the refrigerator goes up while driving.

I still have the older model 6.0, the new model is awaiting instal upon my return home.

No I haven't - I really haven't been using the trailer, just testing the fridge, making sure it works correctly first.

I believe the water keeps warm air from entering the drain hose, which then enters the refer, the water is held in a little plastic container on the back of the refer, I had pulled my hose out and inserted it into a drain hole, my mistake. I reinstalled it back into the container where water keeps it sealed. I believe I was blowing out and that is the reason for the partial vent cover. It seemed to work my last 6 hour trip home.

It looks like the whole thing ( box w/wire inside) as opposed to just the wire, will slip down or pull out, is that correct?
Thanks,

Someone along the way mentioned the "dollar bill test" for the seal, I'm assuming you can not slip a dollar bill between the seal and the frame of the fridge, is that right?

You will be able to pull on it, but should meet some decent resistance. If it slips out easily, there may be a problem.

The freezer has definitely failed the dollar bill test...I can put the bill in the freezer with the door shut & pull it out as well with no problem.

It appears that maybe the " latch" inside is not holding the freezer door tight enough, it is on a fairly steep slope downward toward the front. It has two screws with slots, so it looks adjustable, but I haven't figured out how to get the plastic cover off without breaking it....anyone know how?

Also is there anyway to adjust the freezer door itself?

Thanks, any help would be appreciated.

there is a storage latch, make sure you have it disengaged and the lock on the door engaged. it is described in the manual.

This is what the latch & cover looks like in the freezer. Do others have this kind of slope?

Yes mine was like that also. When I snapped the clear cover off to adjust the screws I found the top screw slightly loose, probably just enough to allow the latch to move as the door was opened and closed.

Fix: snap off clear cover, loosen screws, adjust latch as needed, tighten screws and snap cover back in place.

Cheers

Keeping in mind that sometimes screws are intentionally not tightened to allow for expansion and contraction ( like aluminum siding on your house ).

Ah but the latch holes are slotted for adjustment, but don't over tighten.

Has anyone else tried the "dollar bill test" on their freezer and fridge?

I thought I'd check....maybe others would not really pass the test but are cooling fine.
Thanks

RMD 8555 units installed at factry

I have a21 ft. trailer on order with delivery in May of 2016, so I would appreciate any information about how the RMD8555 two door units that are being installed at the factory are performing.

Thanks, Cfoster

We had the large single door fridge changed to the double door in July before a long trip. I have not been monitoring actual temperatures before and after so no hard data. We found the single door struggled to keep items cold at max setting 5 bars when outside temps where above 85 degrees and in direct sun and we noticed coffee cream was going bad before expiry date. We have not had these problems with the double door in similar conditions. We leave it set at 4 bars whether on propane or power. We like having the separate doors for freezer as we use it a fair amount and thus in doing so we do not expose the fridge space to warm air when opening the door to access the freezer. We are happy with this refrigerator and appreciated the opportunity to switch it to the double door model.
