I don't know. I was told that the new fridge has its own fan, but I can't tell if it comes on or not. Should I be able to hear it?

We have yet to challenge our new fridge to higher temperatures, but I thought I could contribute some information I got from Tammy at ETI. When we picked up our trailer in May I asked if it had all the upgrades for maximum performance. She said that the fridges being installed still lacked an extra fan to increase performance, a modification that Dometic would be making available possibly in the summer. So I was planning to contact them in August and see if they could install the fan. The fridge performed fine in 70 - 80 deg weather, but we will be trying it this summer in much warmer environments.

Sounds like I need to have my own fan installed if a shop is replacing the fridge. I seriously doubt Dometic would foot the bill for an R&R for the unit just to install a fan if it came to that, or even just ADDING their missing fan if that's possible from the access panel.

When ETI installed the fridge they set it at five bars; I didn't change this.
Also, I was told at the time that the fridge has a fan.

Mike I believe you should be able to hear it . The problem with mine is the limit switch is set too high .But I believe it should be set lower in your frig now . Maybe give escape a call and ask that ?or if temp keeps getting that high call Escape . Reace told me some things to try one was keep it on 4 if that isn't good put on 5 . But you should hear your fan come on once in awhile . Pat

Does anyone know- on the two door replacement are people keeping the Texas fan (if they had one) and having it installed on the new two door model? Is it possible to do?
Thanks

When I had my fridge replaced 2 weeks ago the tech told me the new one had a fan on it, he removed the fan form the old unit and did NOT install them on the new one.

RMD 8555 Two Door Fridge - performance stats
When I started this thread I envisioned it to be a good collection point for some hard performance numbers on the two door. Now that several folks have it, do you have any numbers to share? Specifically helpful would be internal temps of both the fridge and the freezer, ambient temps at the time of measurement, source of fuel, settings, and the amount of cool down time. Thanks.

Here is some data from my RMD 8555, with the upper baffle NOT properly installed. The fridge was set to 5 bars the whole time.
Conclusions:
It is much better than my RML8555.
I cannot remove the freezer and run it as one big fridge, which wasn't too bad with the RML8555.
I am NOT thrilled with the performance, Dometic still needs to make a Tropic or Subtropic rated fridge we can use. It did surprisingly well in really hot weather but did not recover as well as I had hoped in cooler overnight temperatures.
I amazed that Reace got Dometic to agree to swap it out. (KUDOS to Reace.)
I need to pull the fridge and baffle it properly. I will do this in August somewhere outside of Arizona or here in October.

Is Reace doing something with the baffle that other RV shops aren't? When speaking to him last week he mentioned that some of the baffling needed to be removed as the new one was taller. Tammy emailed me this: "
When the RV Center removes the fridge from the trailer. They will see a baffle in the top. They will need to cut 1-1/4” of the baffle to accommodate the larger RMD8555. The gap at the bottom of the fridge in the back will be filled with spray foam.

114 to 70's, where'd you go?
Any chance of describing a properly installed upper baffle or pointing me to a write up on such?

Phoenix, AZ to Clark Fork Campground : Stanislaus National Forest - Clark Fork Campground
Baffled per Dometic installation manuals. Basically
1) No gaps to the living space, no ripping out ETI baffles (trimming OK)
2) Board/insulation on top of fridge
3) Board/insulation from top/back edge of fridge to the roof (creating a chimney)

I started a spreadsheet of temperatures but ran into a problem. After a couple of days of poor performance on propane I set the new fridge back to 120V electric. Then I left the trailer in Mt. Vernon, WA, while I took an overnight trip to Victoria, BC. When I returned the fridge was at 37 degrees F, but the freezer was above 40. By then I had no food in either compartment, thank goodness. There was a layer of ice on the bottom of the freezer compartment.
I noticed that I can shut the freezer door and then pull it open about a half-inch; that is, it doesn't latch correctly. I think this would cause the problem I had. I'd like for other people with the RMD8555 to try this and see if they can pull the door open a bit. There must be a way to adjust it so that this doesn't happen.
