Yes, a temperature differential is required, but the hot side is in the tube on the right side (with the electric heaters and the propane burner), not in the visible tubing.

The finned part on the top is where the heat is rejected to the air; the big loops of tubing at the bottom are not shaped that way to be cooled by the air, they're just long to give the fluids time to interact while they flow.

Re RML 8555....Does the auxiliary fan have both a manual on/off and temperature on/off? Thanks...it's in a 2014 - 21'

Mine just had an on/off, but it worked, supposedly, in conjunction with the thermostat.

This is confusing - I believe this is for the RMD 8501. Here is a post on the Dometic website regarding the RMD 8555 and it's rating.

The spec''s also mention a heater which is user operable stated here A frame heater (user selectable) can be switched on to prevent moisture and condensation from forming on the frame.

When would this be used, this was not on the single door model?

Somewhere in my digging through the Dometic online tech manuals I ran across a table that stated the RMD85XX numbers designated the product family, and the last two numbers (XX) were to designate the fridge depth (front door to the rear of the unit)

Thanks to this forum I got my rml8555 replaced with a rmd 8555. Thank you. When the dealer installed it he said I had to pay an up fit charge of $250 ( showed me the bill from Dometic) & also the extra labor charge , which I have no problem with . I called Dometic & they said everyone with Escape exchange had to pay the $250, Is that true. Thanks

Each r&R is different, mine cost me $270.... so yes perhaps the average cost is $250 for repair and replacement with the additional insulation and modifications needed for the newer unit.

They tried to collect a $200 upcharge from me based on instructions from Dometic. The Dometic rep for ETI intervened and it went away.

If you want to improve or add insulation, then Dometic will not pay for that. I chose to improve the original install with insulation, your choice, strictly replace for minimal outlay, or pay some extra for an improvement.

You may pay for labour over the allowance for the remove&replace service, or the costs of any other modifications done at the same time, but my understanding is that there is no charge from Dometic to be paid by the Escape owner.

It's confusing because the US product pages for anything Dometic don't provide a climate class rating - and that's on purpose. They don't consider it applicable to US because the whole Climate Class Rating requirement is an EU thing. But, it's basically the same fridge in both the US and the EU - albeit with a different power supply and input requirement. Ask any North American Dometic rep about the 'climate class' of one of their fridges, and except for a few of the more knowledgable ones, you'll get a reply along the lines of "I don't know what that is" or "What's that?" I've discussed this with Reace and others. The RMD 8555 is an SN rated fridge.

Cost me $60, but then I'm out there now fixing the install. Did not replace the upper rear gasket after trimming for the bigger fridge, or seal up the bottom rear.
