Gonna be a great weekend for testing fridge performance. Could hit 40C ( 104F) by Sunday in parts of BC.

I didn't know it ever became that hot up there. Gives me hope that it will at least not be cold there although I do expect that at Jasper and Banff even in August. Guess we will have some hot days before and after Jasper and Banff.

Predictions are for a hotter and dryer summer across western Canada.

BC has already used up 80 per cent of its forest fire-fighting budget for this year.

That's definitely bad. Things could change though.

Could someone please review for me exactly how this process works? After hearing from ETI that my fridge is approved for exchange, I've contacted my local Dometic service center and provided them the serial number, etc. They contacted Dometic and got nowhere. Now it's back to me to try to make the connections. I gave the ETI contact info to the service center, but I'm just curious to know how this has worked....for those of you who have had success. It would be so helpful to have a single point of contact at Dometic who knows what's going on because clearly they don't talk with each other across the company.

Did they install the bracket fix for the solar panel or they leaving that up to you ?

Reace offered to do the bolt thru the ceiling fix like they do for the bigger panels, but I opted to wait for the parts for the cable through the brackets fix.

So you must have, like I do, the smaller solar panel, correct.

30 day trip in 21 with new refrig and 110 degrees

We finally reached Tucson Wed. after the hills coming out of San Diego the temp went right to 110, HOT. Three hours later still hot and inside trailer was 98. The fridge was not loaded very well and the temp on gas was headed up, switched to 12 volts and the fridge held to 40 and 20 and ice cube trays and frozen items still frozen and the beer and milk felt cold in the door and tasted fine. This was extreme effort for the fridge and if the new fan temp switch helps I think we'll be good. The fans in the new double door I could hear them when we emptied the fridge and left it on, they definitely did come on until I turned it off.
At that temp coming across the desert at 68 to 75mph I felt glad that I had went with the Marathon tires and the Jeep just kept going at 12 1/2 mpg.
This may be our last loong trip, we are just getting too old. From now on no more than 800 miles, like Monterey in August for the Historics Autos or Colorado for cooler weather and of course the coast.
Jack
Glad to be home and happy with our rig.

Glad to hear the news about the reefer; did you run it for an extended time on DC? I've had mixed results recently with sun overhead as to amount of drain on the battery, but am likely to try some more.

After our last 3000 mile trip recently I had some thoughts running through my head about selling- but that quickly changed into planning another Fall trip! It is always easier heading out than back home.

Final tally for the R&R of the fridge, $60. The tech was good with the 1 hr Dometic gives him for the job along with my $60 for the service call.

The bolt on bracket fix secures the solar panel to the roof. The cable fix does not have a clamping effect but retains the panel on the roof if the epoxy bond fails and then the bolt on system must be utilized.

In most cases, the 95 watt panels are properly bonded on and adding the cable restraints is a quick and easy way to ensure they stay that way. If the epoxy bond fails, the cables will prevent the panel from coming off the roof and a bolt through bracket will need to be installed.
For those that prefer a bolt down kit for the 95 watt panels, I do have brackets that I can send.

Reace

We have 160W panel with Group 29 12B-same as you started with I believe. Going down Idaho into Nevada with 99 degree temps I switched to DC and checked 90 minutes later. Display showed 3/4 charged so switched back to propane. Next day did same for 3+ hours and charge level was full. Not sure why the difference.
