Glad to know in advance. I have Big Bend plates but have not been yet. Can't wait.

On the other hand, it was great entertainment to shine a flashlight at the Maxx-fan running on exhaust, screen removed, and watching the little buggers being pulled out of the trailer. A scene from a Si-Fi film...

Your post made me smile Alan.
Suppose I should have said we've never been anywhere at the right time for any bugs that can get through the screen. Camped in Big Bend with no bug issues. Perhaps it was because we were in Chisos Basin, where the gnats aren't so bad.

Come back to Big Bend next spring - March thru May - when we will be campground hosts in the Chisos Basin Campground. A much better bug experience I understand.

That's awesome. Campground hosts!
Will definitely have to look at the calendar.

Big Bend has two climates - the low country desert, and the high country centered around the Chisos Mountains. But in general the best time to visit is Fall through Spring. Most people avoid the summer season but even in early fall and late spring the temperatures in the low desert can be oppressively & dangerously hot. Thanksgiving through college spring break is considered the high season and campground reservations are recommended.
There is a lot of detail I could go into but perhaps this window screen conversation is not the place, so I will suggest you visit the Park website as a starting point.
https://www.nps.gov/bibe/index.htm
Perhaps a new conversation - "Big Bend NP"- might bring in other folks who have visited the Park and would be willing to add their experiences.
