sewer hose brand?

I seem to remember reading a post somewhere on here about a particular brand of sewer hose not fitting the diameter of the installed sewer hose holder? I can't seem to find it with search. I'm getting ready to buy a hose, what brand does work? Or are there any I should avoid? Also what length should I get ?

I think at some point Escape switched to a larger diameter tube, so you're probably good. A Rhino fits in the tube on our 2017.

ETI did switch to larger sewer tubes some time ago, but not all sewer hoses fit right. ETI used to offer the Rhino hose as their upgraded hose (it is an excellent hose) but they switched sometime more recently to a different brand, at least that was the case when we picked our trailer up in August. The some-other-brand hose fits in the tube ok, but the elbow piece that comes with it does not, and must be stored elsewhere. The Rhino hose is configured differently and all parts fit in one tube. The tube accepts up to a 15 foot hose. We had ETI add a second sewer tube, and carry a 15 foot Rhino (not supplied by ETI) with all its parts in one tube, and a second hose (the some-other-brand upgrade) in its tube as an extension to the Rhino if needed. ETI also gave us the standard floppy sewer hose, which I didn’t realize at the time, and would have left with them if I had. It’s never been used and free to anyone who wants it. Stinky slinkies. Yeah.

Just to confirm since you mentioned adding a second tube - does the Rhino 15' fit into the standard tube with all parts on the 2017 19'?

i actually managed to fit a 15' rhino in the square bumper of my casita 16', only the sewer opening adapter didn't fit, so i was stashing it in the battery box. used the slinky that came with our used 2014 E21 just once, and it was leaking, EEEEW, so immediately replaced it with another Rhino and yup, fits 100% in the pipe on the 21, including the adapter.

The RhinoFLEX linked above fits in the larger storage tube Escape installed in my 2017 21. The "Deluxe" hose they offered as an option, the Valterra D04-0250 Dominator 15 Foot Sewer Hose Kit does not fit unless, as Scott states, you find a different location for the elbow.

I sent email to Escape when I discovered the problem, but have no idea if they changed to a deluxe version that fits...

I am getting a 19 and will be buying my own rhino flex hose. Will a 20 footer fit in the tube or should I get the 15 footer?

15 is all I have ever needed. You can hook two together with an adapter coupler and keep it somewhere else in case needed. We only hook up to sewer a few times a season. Our main use is at the dump station. You’re more likely to need additional water hose than sewer hose if my experience is any indication. Don’t forget disposable rubber gloves and some Chlorox wipes. I also pack a hose nozzle, the old straight brass style and a quarter turn hose end shut off or two. Plastic, light and cheap.

Usually a 15’ length is enough. But not always. A 20’ hose will not fit in the stock sewer tube.

If you get the Rhinoflex make sure to pay attention to the little warning label attached to it. I had one previously and it came apart at the elbow and spewed nasty stuff. They now warn you to make sure the connections are tight before using it. I must not have been the only one to have that happen.

(The floppy stock ETI hose doesn’t have a connector at all on one end.) Two 10’ Rhinos would be even longer than one 20’ for this reason.

i find with the Rhinos, its best to fully collapse them to their shortest BEFORE putting the cap on the last end, otherwise the air pressure can make them expand. and, if you cap them at a lower elevation, be careful when you remove the cap at a higher elevation or they can spray a little.

I went out and pulled them out. I have 2 Rhinoflex but they are a 10 and a 5 foot. Something in the back of my memory made me go look. Your right, 20 foot of Rhinoflex will not fit. Valterra will.
Mine will pop out a foot or so when I flip the latch so it must be the maximum amount you can stuff in there.

If you want to go Cadillac, consider the DrainMaster system. After having a Camco hose split at the connection and than helplessly watching s%#t flow down my host's driveway, I bit the bullet, bought DrainMaster, and never looked back. It's designed like fuel tank hose systems on tanker trucks. The setup is pricey, and the large piece that connects to the sewer pipe doesn't fit in the standard sewer tubes we all have strapped under our RVs, but it's built like a tank and I have zero worries about leaks or breaks.
