Our blue hose from ETI gave one season and leaked. Rhino now (much better) and yes fits in tube when you separate the pieces. My complaint is with the plastic doors on the tube. I'm not rough with stuff, but the hinges broke off on one side and I had to wire that shut, and am being super careful with the other side till we get home. How do you remove the end cap for replacement?

If you have the D&W sewer hose carrier, you simply pop in a new plastic door, $6 online (free first class mail, although that may not apply for Canadian addresses). It's $7.50 for both door and mounting bracket. To replace the bracket, the web page notes: "Old mounting bracket must be removed by breaking the glue bond or cutting the tube before this item can be installed. Use any standard PVC cement to reassemble".

So we too need a new hose -- we have a 2012 17B - and I'm thinking Rhino. Can anyone tell me quickly tho whether we need anything other than this -- and whether it'll fit in our storage tube?

We just got one of those a few weeks ago. Haven't used it yet but I did test that it fit in the tube OK. Looks a little more substantial than the original which lasted just over a year.

We picked up one before we picked up the trailer. Used the stock hose once then threw it away. The Rhinoflex is great. It fits the storage fine.

last year when we went to the Burlington Wa Camping World, the viper hose was both on sale and in stock. So we got it. We also got a 2' extension, which on occasion we have been able to use at the dump station. my recollection is that the viper is a bit thicker than the rhino. I don't know if that makes a difference in the real world or not.

Is there a fitting (straight or 90 degree elbow, slip or twist-on) on the outlet end of the sewer hose provided with a new Escape? Thanks.

No fittings, other than the hose is provided. Anything else is your dime.....

Correct. I strongly recommend you get a RhinoFlex. Far better hose, easier to slope, route and adjust length, and comes with the fitting for the sewer end as well. Our stock hose went into a dumpster after the first trip.

Thanks for the quick reply. Just to confirm, when you say only the hose, with no fittings are included, do you mean there is no bayonet fitting on one end to attached to the trailer, or just no outlet end fitting?

yeah, our 2014 was barely used at a ll when we got it as the owner died after just a couple trips... first time I tried to use the supplied sewer hose I realized it had pinhole leaks all down the length of it, yuck. out it went, and in went a nice Rhinoflex 15 footer. the extra length comes in handy if you don't want to park right on top of the sewer pedestal, or maybe there's a higher spot either before or after the dump station. the rhinoflex easily fits in the supplied carrier pipe.

Mine came with a bayonet fitting on one end, nothing on the other.
Used it for six years before replacing with a better quality hose.

Our new Rhino is packed already, waiting for our orientation in 2 weeks. We will probably use the factory supplied one as a spare, or extension, or toss it...

Keeping it for a spare isn't a bad idea, I've seen more then 1 slinky laying on the side of the highway.

First one I noticed along the road was in South Carolina. I thought it was one of those pythons they have down there.

I get a feeling the runaways we see on the road are from the bumper storage tubes, the rubber ends just push in unless you replace them with aftermarket.

The “free” hose that is included with new trailers does have a bayonet fitting on one end only. But yeah, get a Rhinoflex. For a modest fee ETI will install a second sewer hose carrier tube that you can store a second hose in, for the occasional extra long run, or just as a backup. You can stick the freebie in there just in case it’s ever needed...

actually, those rubber caps hold quite securely when they are popped in ad the rubber is still fairly fresh. sure, in 10 years, they get old and hard, then they fall out too easily.
