Sewer Hose Questions
My wife and I will be picking up our new 5.0TA in 3 weeks. Our only other trailer had a porta potti so we have a few questions about the sewer hose.
1) What length hose comes with the 5.0TA?
2) What length Rhinoflex, Dominator, or Viper hose will fit in the existing sewer hose holder tube on the 5.0TA?
3) What length do you recommend (that would fit in the existing sewer hose holder)? Local shops tend to recommend the 20 footer which is two 10 foot lengths.
4) Do you recommend a sewer hose support (i.e. Slunky, Sidewinder, etc.)?
Thanks,
Mark

I have a 20' Rhinoflex and a Sidewinder. Both work exactly as intended.

Thanks Donna! Is your 20' Rhinoflex actually two 10' sections? Does it fit in the existing sewer hose tube?
Thanks,
Mark

You could always start and make do with what Escape provides, then decide what best fits your needs.
I used the lightweight one supplied by Escape for a good 3 years after I bought the trailer, but it developed a couple holes, and I went with the Rhinoflex, which seems to be very tough and works great. Mind you, mostly boondocking, it does not see a lot of use.

Be sure the hose is there at Orientation. Ours was left out so we bought a 10' at Walmart. ETI sent us the 20' and we carry both; the carry tube opens at either end. Once in a while the 10' one is useful.

There is also a "clear" adapter....where you can actually see when the tanks are clear.
You want your first time to be uneventful!

I just wait until the waste water quits running out the end of the hose, no need to watch it flow through.

Clear adapter, available at most RV suppliers. Also very wise to get yourself a little clip for the stinky slinky storage tube

I don't get the desire to watch.....ummm.....stuff, flow through the sewer hose. I guess we all have our own forms of entertainment.

See.... not watch!
Once the black tank flow is completed...then open the gray!
I'm not really interested how well I chewed my corn!

LOL... I am just saying I prefer to listen. You can actually hear just a wee trickle coming down the pipe, like the last bit coming from the grey tank.

One 20' piece, but it compresses down to about 4-5' and fits into the existing hose tube.

15' of Viper hose
When we looked at sewer hoses we ended up getting the Viper. The 15' Hose just fits in the storage tube. We got a 2' extension that we carry in a plastic storage box (with some caps on each end). We chose the Viper because it looked like the most durable hose at Camping World, and we will see if that is the case. We only got it last October, but so far it is holding up well.

I thought the original that came with the trailer was too thin and didn't trust it, I swapped to the Rhino like Donna. Had a Flush King from previous trailer, works great for back flushing when no one is behind you at the dump station and the non potable hose has a male end on it. I keep it in the storage between the propane and the loft. In the image it's the right hand part only.
By the way, had the cover for the dump outlet pipe break, one of the clips broke. It was always very tight, but no more. New one from WM works much better.

We LOVE the RhinoFlex (well Love is perhaps too strong a word for a sewer hose) and threw the factory hose away after a couple nights. The ability to compress it or elongate it and have it keep its shape makes routing it very easy. Also, the elbow with the seal is handy-- and a sewer seal is required at many campgrounds to alleviate sewer gases.

Robert, what length Rhinoflex did you get and did you get the same length Sidewinder?

Addendum: I had to trim down the tabs at the ends of the Rhino to fit in the hose tube, just a smidgen too wide.

No trimming required with the new sewer hose tube. It's larger.

A 15 foot kit. This one:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B002OU...V-L&ref=plSrch
The Sidewinder extends about 15 feet, but I never measured it.
By the way, the 20 foot will also fit in the new sewer tubes they're installing on Escapes, if you think you need a longer one.
They compress for easy storage.
