Shower drain?

If no shut off valve for shower drain, what keeps gray water from splashing back up into bath? Our old casita had a valve. Just courious.

The shower drain in the floor has a piece that screws in to seal it. You unscrew it to allow the shower to drain.

I completely understand what you are talking about. I asked an owner this weekend and they never think about that so I don't think we need the hepvo valve.

We have the same problem with gray water coming up into the shower when under way. The drain valve has threads to screw into the shower drain, but the shower drain is missing the threads. We have an appt with Rease to have this repaired. Not sure if this is your problem. We always try and travel with as empty a gray water tank as possible. But life is never perfect...!

I often have to tow with grey/ black water to the next camp ground because where I'm leaving from doesn't have a dump. I still have a Casita, and opening/ closing the shower drain from outside and under the front of the trailer is a pain.

I just recently noticed how Escape shower drain works a couple of weeks ago at a rally. A screw in cap inside the shower is a better idea in my opinion. I assume it works well or would see more threads about grey water in the shower when towing. Simple is better.

The shower drain valve in my 2013 Casita is controlled by a rod in the front closet ( No crawling under trailer) Newer Casitas have a hepvo valve in the shower drain which eliminates having to have a valve or drain plug.

My 2004 Casita Spirit Deluxe 17' is as I described, have to go outside to open/ close the shower valve, hard to reach, 13 years old, so now stiff and hard to open/ close. I would install the hepvo valve, but have new Escape 21' on order, will just live with what I have until new trailer arrives.

Funny how I've had my Casita over 10 years, and just the last year learned some things about it, like the hepvo valve for the shower drain.

I know some install hepvo valve on Escape, but I really don't know why?

To eliminate the need for the anti-siphon, and/or to reduce or eliminate odors I would assume. There have been several problems with leaks though from what I understand.

It does work well, Charles. We often travel with a full, or near full gray tank, and as long as we remember to screw down the plug, nothing splashes up into the shower. Debbie and I try to remind each other about the plug

If you forget it is nasty. Shower pan full of smelly gray water.
