Well, personally I consider poutine to be an appetizer. Now HAGGIS, that will put some meat on your bones. After a shower, of course!

No offense, but IMHO lutefisk is about the foulest thing I ever attempted to eat. Poutine on the other hand -- YUM.

No, that's way better sounding than lutefisk

Wow!, I really learn a lot on this forum! I found this interesting quote on Lutefisk from the Urban Dictionary:

Lutefisk
Disgusting fish dish served anywhere Scandinavian grandmothers lurk, in the U.S. usually on holidays or other "special occasions." Also makes a frequent appearance on smorgasbords. Best described as fish Jello. Tastes bad and smells worse. Most acidic dish known to man (no joke). Dried codfish is reconstituted in lye (breaking down proteins/any structure), "washed out" with water for a couple of days, and boiled into oblivion. White fish served with a white sauce often on a white plate.

Lutefisk
Food used in Norway to torture children.
Child: "Mommy, I don't want to clean the kitchen!"
Mom: "Do it, or you will have to eat lutefisk again."
Child: "... *Runs to clean the kitchen*"

I'm gagging just reading about it...Greggo, "You first!"..

On the other hand, Lefse is delicious, especially with butter.

Lutefisk was always served at Grandpa's at Christmas. I don't recall anyone actually eating it.
