Solar panel question

Has anyone put dual solar panels (160) on the roof? Curious of the outcome--thanks.

I've got three on the roof of my 19'; two 160s, one mounted on the front and one on the back and one 95 in the middle....correction: two 95s, one in the middle and one in back and a 160 in front...I think the first description was just wishful thinking, however, a 160 will also fit on the back roof area of a 19' and is where Escape will mount one if ordered.

Steve,

How about posting link to previous discussion and pix of installation. I tried to search for Gae, but couldn't find what I recall.

Here is a link to some discussions on my installation. I also made all my panels adjustable when I added the last 160.

Good golly--this is great! What a terrific job, Steve. Ike is taking a closer look at it right now. Such valuable info and we have a few questions for Reace tomorrow. Our many thanks!

The controller reads input voltage and sends out the current to charge. So if the controller is to far away from batteries then they do not get charged to full because it can onlt charge to the voltage level at the end of the wire. By using larger wire u can mount controller farther away and still charge to full. Most controller manuals will show the wire size to use based on how far away from the batteries. Also the wire size from solar panel to controller must be correct also so that voltage is not lost. So use the correct wire size and mount where it is most convenient.
hope this is clearer to understand. Also go pro is a pwm monitor where the best monitor is mppt but is always more expensive. Look at blue sky as there monitor has a curent in and out counter so u shud not need a separate battert monitor.

Ken--thanks for this info. Even tho my husband has tried to explain this to me, your interpretation finally hit the mark! Ike will be delighted

We still have some decisions to make, so back to the build sheet and research on controllers--

Thanks, again-
Gae
