Good question. I have a small auxiliary power supply and like the consistency of the current when I use it with either the inverter or when plugged in. Have used battery power a couple of times. Worked well but it depends how close I am to the batteries. If up in the front of the 5 TA I will often plug it in as opposed to the dinette area where I will direct connect to the house bank.

Thanks. That makes sense. I'm always curious about how other hams do things, as I don't have a lot of experience with my radios.
