Where is the battery/ batteries on an Escape 19?

Pretty self explanatory
Where does the battery?batteries go on the Escape 19?

On the 17 it/they seem to be on rear bumper. Very accessible, easy to remove at end of season, good weight distribution.

Not sure where they are on the 19, and haven't noticed it mentioned on the website/build your 19 page.

It or they are on the tongue next to the trailer. If you get the front storage box...it or they are inside.

Well thats good news.

Thanks! Much appreciated. I was worried they would be inside under a bench or something.

That's where they were on my 2009 19. This was fantastic, as the benches are awkward to use anyway. Saves room in the storage box now that there is one. The purpose for moving them forward was to better the trailer balance by moving weight forward. I had to be careful of loading to ensure good hitch weight, especially with bikes loaded on the back.

The battery on my 2009 17B is located on the rear bumper. I have never found it convenient to remove it and never have removed it, except to replace it.
My trailer is plugged in 24/7 when I'm at home.

I understand originally the battery was to be on the front on the 17B but had to much tongue weight. This is the reason why it is on the back bumper.

The battery was originally under the curbside dinette bench in the 19', but has been out on the tongue (or in the front box) for several years.

The battery is still under the dinette bench in the rear of the 21' and 5.0TA models.

I've never had a problem. Oh yeah AGM batteries. [emoji16]

It was not much trouble in the old 19.

I moved the batteries inside on the passengers side in a vented box to accommodate my mini-split condenser just like the original 19’s had. I like everything except for the fact that the off-gassing from the standard lead acid Interstates has given me trouble with the MTI combo propane/CO detector. Next round of batteries will be AGM or lithium which will eliminate the issue.

Why isn't the vented box operating as it should. Does the gas stay low or high? Perhaps a lower/higher vent on the box to allow air in and then expel?

The 21 has two vents for the battery box. One is out the back wall but there is another one in the floor. It looks like a drain tube but would also serve as a vent allowing for more circulation of air/gases if not covered by the battery. I put slats down so that it could serve as a vent.

The problem is the vent is attached at the middle (height wise) of the box. Hydrogen gas is the lightest gas there is and the smallest molecule. It sneaks under the battery box lid. Switching to AGM or lithium solves the problem since there isn't enough room to vent from the top of the box.

As to watering, there are watering systems such as the Flow Rite that solve that problem.

Yup. What Jon said. My issue is not unique. Some stock Escapes have the same problem. I have not yet tried a gasket to seal the box better than it came when I bought it. In my opinion without a separate sealed battery compartment I believe it would be best to have AGM’s if inside.

We would be purchasing new model, as there are seldom used escapes around, and we want particular options. I really don't want to start re wiring and relocating things. Don't have the time. I worked 49 days straight last summer, want what free time I have to be spent camping and exploring, not modifying a trailer.

Would be going dual battery for the ampacity. Our current heap of a trailer has a 97 amp hour battery, and if it's cloudy too many days in a row my 90 peak watt solar panel won't keep it maintained. The propane detector is a pesky 24 hour drain on battery. 48.5 amp hours isn't a lot of juice for exhaust fan and led lights when the detector is sucking at it constantly.
And we generally do not have hook ups so rely on 12v.
As well, what I've been reading on fiberglass eggs in general is they get hot inside in hot weather, so will be needing that exhaust fan on the regular
