Altitude sickness

Arrived in Grand Junction,Co today, 1883 miles in 3 days.
Suffering from nausea, both intestinal and dizzyness.
Dogs also not eating, we drink so mucho water, we have to stop every 2 hours.
Going to cut back on driving and get more rest.

Cut out caffeine and alcohol as well and things will settle down in a few days. That said, the high elevation is one reason we never ski in Colorado any more.

My father would get nausea at altitude even nose bleeds. He would swear by Chicken broth to keep something in his stomach.

A couple of aspirin often helps some people.
Given that you are only at about 4500 feet in Grand Junction, the odds are that the altitude effects were from going over the high passes between Denver and Grand Junction, in which case it should pass quickly IF that's what it is.
With all the water you are drinking, be sure you are also getting some salt...the chicken broth would help there for sure.
You might also just be exhausted on top of it! Getting a little more rest is a good choice regardless.

I find that fishing cures altitude sickness. For example, over the last three weeks my wife and I camped at Silver Lake, CA (7,200ft) and fished about 9 places during that time; hiking 6.5 miles up to 8,500 ft and both limited on brook trout at lake Agnes, an alpine lake, then two days later we hiked up to Gem lake, another alpine lake higher up in the mountains, hiking 10.5 miles at 9,500ft and it was very windy and no fish but we fished Agnew on the way back and got 4 more brook trout. We fished Grant Lake and got 6 more, the San Joaquin River for 4 German Browns, Starkweather Lake for 8 more, canoeing June Lake 6 more...etc. etc. We caught 46 fish in 19 days. ...no altitude sickness at all...in fact we were so busy fishing we frequently forgot to eat. We let the majority of the fish go but kept the best to eat...

Lots of info on the internet like this: Altitude or Mountain Sickness - The Travel Doctor. Had any number of visitors to Yellowstone Park (6000 to 9000 feet elevations) come into our clinic in Idaho Falls (4400 feet) with altitude issues. It was usually those who flew in from back east or down south who lived at or near sea level with no time to acclimate. Smokers were the sickest. A prescription for Diamox saved many vacations.

Yes, altitude sickness, "Montezuma's Revenge" for northerners. Tell you what else, this time changes/time zones throws everything off. It is time for me to get up on the east coast, but 2 am here Take care Alf, see you in a couple of days, I know your excitement will overcome any malaise nature may throw at you.

Hi: cpaharley2008... Glad to hear you're" Back on the road again". I too am having trouble with the time difference. I left the truck clock on home time and it sure makes you look... twice!!!
