Anza Borrego Desert Camping - Feb 15, 2015

Wanted to share some pictures of camping in the Anza Borrego Desert this weekend. Daytime temperature yesterday was 85 F with a light breeze. The desert floor is green from the rains two weeks ago and we should see wild flowers soon. Saw a 4 month old Escape 17' yesterday camping about a mile away. We have a wine picnic hike planned today at Arroyo Mud Caves in the badlands followed by frozen margaritas and a fish grill and asian stir fry veggies in the evening. Gotta love the February weather out here!

Nice. More about your solar, please. How many watts? Do you have to manually tilt the panels? What size inverter? Thanks

Also, is it safe there to leave your rig while you're gone? What type of hitch lock do you have?

I use a yellow hitch lock..don't remember the brand right now...2500 watt inverter...

Not many, Mexican food is an American thing. Our most common restaurant food is either Chinese or sushi.

And lots of diff. varieties of Mexican food in the U.S. - TexMex, New Mexican Mex, Mex Mex, Creole Mex, French Mex, Chinese Mex, My Ex's Mex, OK, I just made a few of those up, but they could exist for all I know...

OK, back on track. Never been to Borrego, but lots of folks say it's great, and those temps are perfect.

Tacos are trendy here on the Island. I was amazed at how many sushi places there were in the Kootneys last summer though.

At 9:40 this morning, the Morningstar solar controller panel showed the batteries being "bulk" charged at 13.6 volts with solar charging at 17.2 amps, 233 watts...battery temps at 71 F. The sun was at an angle to the panels that early and the solar power was slowly building as the sun moved higher and more directly south during the day...and the NovaKool refer was at 6 F freezer and 33 F refer when I last looked. Man, beer is really good when it's that cold!

Please more on your Solar. Could you detail your Daily AMP HR consumption and what you are using ( duty cycle of Novacool, blender etc. ) Do you get to 100% charge on most day's. I believe you have 350 watts of panel @ 17volts, with 40 amp MPPT controller and 4 six volt batteries ? And of course, what is amp hrs needed to prepare a dish of Poutine?
