The Google Translae App works great too. You can use in on written things, like signs, and it listens to speech and translates too. That doesn't substitute learning Spanish, but does help. I have a bunch of friends than have learned Spanish, and it has helped them out a lot in their travels.

The two most important words I figure I need to know are 'cerveza', and then of course 'baño'. I guess 'gracious' is a good one too.

Even English fails me at this point, and for me, that's unusual.

"meets or exceeds expectations" pretty much sums up the Baja so far.

A couple of days ago we were up close and personal with the grey whales and their calves. By up close I mean they roll on their sides and their eye is about 4' from you and you can reach out and touch them. They seem to like the interaction with humans because they seek out the boat and allow the "baby" whale to come close also. Regardless of the rest of the trip this has made M.'s trip.

Now we are at Coyote Beach, in Conception Bay in the Sea of Cortez. Beyond idyllic. On the beach, water's edge 10' away, 5 bucks a day, outhouses and water by the 45 gallon drum. Many spend 2-3 months set-up at the various beaches.

Spectacular scenery and will post photos when I can. Today is laundry day then later we'll be out in the kayaks looking for whale sharks.

Okay, that does it. I'm signing up for a brush-up Spanish course. I might have forgotten a few things since my 7th-grade Conversational Spanish class...

Yes, take a Spanish brush up or sure. Day trip down to Loretto today. Not much English in this town but still managed a great lunch. Gotta remember their hot sauces are really, really hot.

My solar set-up is more than enough and today I'm charging up a fellow Canadians battery for him.

Fridge is doing really well, gotta keep all that shrimp, prawns and fresh fish cold.

Life in Baja is good. Going to hate heading back home in a week or so.

Well, it's about time you checked in with us, Ron. We need to know every detail about your travels to the BaHa (...to dispel them inevitable notions here you've gone to the dark side).

Typical day. Up before sunrise, bathing suit on, launch kayak and go out to paddle with a whale shark that hangs around this area. Breakfast on the beach, swim and socialize until noon. Afternoon, hanging out, swimming, kayak sailing, siesta, happy hour and then maybe over to local restaurant for inexpensive but great meal. Campfire on the beach and then call an end to a tough day. Oh man, only two more days and we'll be heading North. I can see why many folks like to come down here and stay for several months.

There are a couple of other Escapes here and we've talked to both owners.

I'm thinking that I've got to find some bad things to say about Baja. Wouldn't want too many more people to find out how good it is.

Ron just curious have you noticed any dive shops or places to get tanks filled down there?
I have a feeling if you go down next winter you just might see one more Escape trailer [emoji6]

I was just going to ask the same Question as Ruthe. How far down from the U.S. Border did you go? Looks like you've had a great trip! I am envious . Maybe next fall. We are planning on staying in So. Cal / AZ for the winter, Baja doe not look that much further.

Sad day today. Up watching the sunrise and "our" whale shark cruise by the trailer and then started heading North. But we know if you spend too much time in places like this you start taking it for granted. That's what we tell ourselves anyway.

Baja may not seem that far from SoCal but it's sort a world away. The roads are narrow, your average speed travelling is way lower and a distance in the US that you might knock off in a morning would be an all day drive down here.

We went as far South as Loreto. The really excellent areas are South of Mulege on the Sea of Cortez.

I didn't notice any dive shop signs but I'm sure there would be some in any the coastal cities.

Dammit, Ron, before you leave the Baja I really need you to set the timer on your camera, on a tripod behind the trailer facing the ocean, so we can see it and you out there in your kayak.

Never fear Myron, we've got so many photos we'll be putting our friends to sleep showing them all the photos and videos we have. I'll post a representative selection when I'm back home with good wi-fi.

Spent the night at an RV campground in Guerro Negro. What a shock from the peace and quiet of Coyote Beach. There was a caravan leaving this morning. Front and sweep pick-ups with flashing amber lights for 5 RV's Little overkill but I guess if it gets people down here who were reluctant to do it on their own then I guess it works for them.

Longish haul up the interior spine of Baja today. Not all that far in US miles but no gas along the way. We already know we can do it on a tank of gas and we have spare so no worries.
