sẁiẁs Provincial Park (Haynes Point) - BC Parks and they have availability pre-rally (just checked).

Also consider WA 20- North Cascades Highway. Have done it three times and the Canadian route once last May. Both are nice so if you are going back to the coast at least go a different route back. If just one way the 20 is a bit easier IMO.

After getting across the border ( no problem for you - Escape has it all worked out... (what a nice touch Escape!)). I'd suggest the Lyden Campground too. Stay there at least one night and then if necessary, you can go into Bellingham where there are RV stores, Walmart, Fred Meyer's, NAPA auto, Home Depot and Costco. These stores (all pretty close together) can supply you with all the little things that you didn't think of before your first night campout. Its not far from Sumas to Lyden to Bellingham ( 24 miles ... 15 miles from the Lynden KOA to Bellingham) .... and since most of it is on good country back roads ... its good route to practice driving.

There are a couple private RV Campgrounds in Bellingham ... well better said to the North and South a bit. I haven't stayed at either so can't offer advice about them but I would think that you could unhitch and run your errands in Bellingham from them if necessary. Maybe some one can chime in about them.

Once loaded up you can then choose your route to Osoyous. You are going to have a GREAT time!!!!

Tom

Another campground worth considering is the Silver Lake County Park near Maple Falls, WA. About 15 miles from Sumas. Four campgrounds, some sites with hookups (water & electric) & some dry camping. Not much in the way of stores or restaurants nearby, but a very nice park.

This is a great location for a visit to WA 542 (the Mt Baker Highway). If you haven't seen the view from Artist's Point at the end of the highway, you should, however it would be a good idea to leave the trailer at the campground (a bit of a climb at the end of the road). More photos. One note - My visit in late July, 2012 still had snow on the ground & heavy fog (see the link in the photos). The page of photos linked above was taken at the same time of the month in 2014 and it was beautiful.

There are also some very nice Forest Service campgrounds on the Mt Baker Highway, but I've never been able to get a reservation. Dry camping.

We stayed at Rasar State park just east of Burlington. Really nice place on the Skagit River. It's not super close to Chilliwack but you could make it there in about 1:45 to 2 hours. Full hookups with restrooms and showers.

I too am brand new to this. Since my 19 is being delivered at Sumas I am planning to spend the first night at the Lynden KOA. It has good recommendations. I will then cross back over the border to attend the Osoyoos rally. And take four days to get back to Salt Lake City. I have relatives in eastern Washington who will accommodate me over Memorial Day. No adventures to start out with. Full hook-ups, pull-thrus, and no unhitching. I will have plenty of time to fool around with that stuff when I get back home. Including boondocking for long weekends before i officially become a nomad. I am really looking forward all of this.
