Fake news, hardly. Not where I live! Coffee and beer are important commodities in Oregon. National Coffee Day has been advertised for the past week or more. There's an independent coffee stand just about on every corner in Portland. Many have said they would donate a portion of their sales to XX charity today. Some are national charities or local charities or to one family in need.
What's not to like about drinking good coffee?

Yes, coffee is an important issue to deal with on the road. I like to make my own before heading out, but have had to stop for one on the fly. I have had some really good stuff, and some that was not so great. I survived it all.

On thing I have found, is that over the last few years, a lot of these gas stations have improved their coffee immensely. Still some that need to. I cringe at the pots that sat on the heating pads for hours, fortunately not much of that anymore.

When that gas station is the only one around for 150 miles you take what they offer or go without, your choice. But at least it gives you an option, some things in life do not.

Decades ago, I was going to college at night. I learned to drink coffee sludge out of a vending machine and enjoy it. Necessity above all else
