Blog for my upcoming trip

Yep, joined the other twenty zillion bloggers. I've made two posts. So far.

If you want to see where all I've been on my upcoming trip, the blog will be a good way to read about it and see images.

Warning - there will be posts about other stuff. Like my cats. Gee, go figure.

You can sign up for it with your email, if you want. Or just pop in from time to time to see what's going on.

Thanks!

How hard was it to set up your wordpress blog site? I'm looking at doing something similar so I can keep in touch with my siblings as I move around the country. Retirement starts this Friday...4pm.

I got the initial set up done by my ISP, where they loaded it to my domain (or whatever it was they did). Then I went in and started picking my theme and wandering around that area for a while. Puttered around the various options setting it up.

Googled some things I wanted, such as a colored background as the first theme I picked was black text on white background for me, but it was white text on black background for those viewing it. Uh uh, hate pages like that. Found a suggested theme for not doing that.

Googled on how to set it up so folks can subscribe via their email. Not all blogs do that. Needed to add a free app (JetPack) so that could happen, so did that.

In other words, Google will be your friend in helping you set it up. I need to play around with photos as they came in way bigger than I thought. My ISP wanted me to sign up for a 30 day phone help for 150 bucks. Nope. Or 30 bucks per month for chat support. Nope. Google can help me for far less.

BTW, WordPress was free. But go to WordPress.org, not .com as they want to set up your domain (which I already had) and you pay them for that. But that might be what you need.

There are other platforms out there for blogging. I'm clueless about blogging, so maybe someone else on this forum that has one might have a better suggestion because they've tried various ones. I went with WordPress as that's what my ISP supports (turns out the company that owns WP also owns my ISP and a whole bunch of other ISPs).

With 2 posts under my belt, I'm far from being knowledgeable about it. But I found it wasn't that hard really. Good luck!

I'll add a link to your blog at my Fiberglass Trailers page.

Anyone else that does a fiberglass trailer blog that is not already listed can send me the info & I'll add it.

Many, many miles and weeks later, I'm now in Dallas, after going through Houston, Fredericksburg (lovely rain down there), Lubbock (just missed their hail), Albuquerque, Flagstaff, Redwoods and Oregon Coast. Greatly enjoying my trip. To see where all I've been and what I've done, check out the blog (link in my signature). I update it when I get the time and a wifi connection (both of which don't always match up).

Hi Jon,
I started an RV and adventures blog last year, Travels With Towhee | Ride along on this great adventure!, thank you for adding it to your list. That's a great list, by the way. I'll be picking up my brand new Escape 21 mid June!
Ann
