Boston to Florida route

We live in Eastern Canada and are heading to Florida in February with the trailer- has anyone travelled from the Bostonarea to Florida, and can suggest the best route? We've been told I-95 isn't the one you want to take. Would want to cut back out towards the coast after Virginia or so. Looking for some adviseThanks,

I'd take the Garden State Parkway thru NJ down to Cape May, ferry across to Lewes, DE take US 13 south all the way down to Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel in Va and then work my way back to I95 in Virginia, you bypass all the east coast congestion. If you belong to Passport America, there is a Comfort Inn in SC ( check out POA registry) that is economical and you get free breakfast in the lobby!!
