BURNING QUESTION any idea if BC will burn up again in 2019?

In 2017 we drove from the Lower Mainland to Saskatchewan trying to escape wildfire smoke. We never really got away from the smoke.

I just did a google search using these parameters: 2019 bc forest fire season
May I should have included the word predictions?

It’s a bit hard to plan this year’s camping season
Does anyone else feel my pain or am I just being pessimistic

I don't know, I'll be driving down to CA at the end of the month. Am I going to have a ton of snow on Siskiyou Pass or mudslides blocking the hwy. in CA? Who knows, I make plans and modify them if I have to.

Hi: LarryandLiz... My prediction FWIW is if you've been burnt once you can be burnt twice!!! Forest fire's start where the lightning bolt hits!!! Alf

I also feel your trepidation, we cancelled all of our camping reservations in the Kootenays last summer due to the smoke and related health issues. You lose quite a bit of money so not sure what our plans are this year but will probably book again and cross our fingers and toes

I'm considering spending spring and early summer in the Northwest, OR, WA, ID, etc. It seems the fires aren't too bad till July/August there. Then move south to Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, etc for July/August/September. Last year the fires were bad in AZ early but burned out by mid summer. That's my plan but who knows. Or if not on the road, vacation early in the north and later in the south.

No clue about BC though. Pretty country but I don't have a feel for fires up there.

On a positive note, much of the debris that fuels the fires has already burned. My buddy and I were evacuated from Kettle Recreational Area years ago at 2am when lightening started a fire in the campground. Spent the night up on the highway.
He was there again a three years ago when much larger fires attacked Rock Creek. Campers had to leave their trailers, cross the Kettle River and walk out on a trail to Rock Creek. He and his wife spent about a week as guests of a Midway family before they could get into the campground and retrieve the trailer ( which was undamaged ).
This picture is of the campground a year or so after the fire. It was certainly different, but not likely to burn again any time soon.

And by 2019 the morel mushrooms should be popping up all over.
We used to go up to our Dads Grandparents as kids and hunt them.
The reward was omelets stuffed full of them. If we found a lot of large ones they would break out steaks sometimes from the freezer. As kids those were seldom on the menu.
