I'll use the web to look up campgrounds in an area, but even then, the reviews are suspect. Best resource is the members of this forum.

Agreed!! So now I have to ask, has anyone used this site before: ALL US AND CANADA CAMPGROUNDS LOCATOR: STATE PARKS NATIONAL PARKS FORESTS MORE california oregon washington new york pennsylvania more They also claim to have an app.

"If I was only going to have one app it would be AllStays Camp & RV."

Just looked up their web site (Allstays Camp and RV | RV Parks Campgrounds) ... Wow! I'll definitely be downloading this app to my Android. Thanks!!!

They are getting lots of sales today - I just bought it for my iPhone too.

We tried three printed campground guides on a trip a couple of years ago, and all were nearly useless. They rarely agreed on the existence of any campground, and most were "organized" in a way which made finding anything highly inconvenient, if even possible. Accuracy of the information was low. The Woodall's was particularly bad.

We did manage to find some campgrounds, but the free provincial tourist guides and auto club "tour book" were as good as anything else.

I don't think these have been mentioned:

Campsite Photos, Camping Pictures, and Campground Reviews - campsitephotos.com
Directory of Campgrounds in U.S. National Forests and Grasslands - Buy Books, National Forest Forum, News

SeldomSeen,

Two great sites, thanks! I'm bookmarking them both. The National Forest Community forum, linked through the Directory, looks very promising as well.

The Campsite Photos site is really user friendly -- Does it include Canada, I thought I saw British Columbia but then I lost it.

For those interested in exploring a bunch of "campground finders", I have a collection of links to those I've found on my RV Information Page. Scroll down past to Forums to find them.

Vermilye, you are amazing!! How you log in all your trips, pictures and all, is just amazing to me, and your knowledge of RV parks goes well beyond my knowledge. I really appreciate, as I'm sure many others do, your willingness to share. Just how much traveling do you do?
Thank you, Tom

Ruthe, be aware that Moon publishes guide books and camping books. They are not the same type of book. We use the camping book.

Just looked at the national forest site (Directory of Campgrounds in U.S. National Forests and Grasslands - Buy Books, National Forest Forum, News) suggested by CADreamin, and downloaded some of the PDF files listing the National Forest campsites in various regions. NFS campgrounds aren't always listed with other campground guides, so this was very useful information. We love NFS campgrounds as well as BLM and Corps of Engineers.

When planning ahead, we have also found the Allstays apps (Camp and RV, Walmart ONP, and RV Dumps) invaluable. When it's about time to stop for the day though, we have had some of our best luck talking to locals in a mini mart or pulling into a ranger station (when out west). Also gives us a chance to show off our 19 and talk up Escape. We have also found "Next EXIT" (a reference guide to interstate exits) to be of some use when thinking about food and fuel.

Ah shucks! I do, and have done quite a bit of traveling - at least 10 trips across the US & Canada. Around 45,000 miles since April, 2011 when I bought the trailer; the rest of the trips were tent camping. A page listing links to many of my trips is here.

As to sharing, I spent too much time cruising around the internet looking for what others have done, and started the website as a way to keep track of it all after my bookmarks got out of hand. I don't update the RV web pages as often when traveling, but the whole site is a fun project.
